hey all, I've been looking all over and not finding any answers. Thought I'd try here and see if any of you wise people can help.

Three days ago I used a Salonpas on my left shoulder - between the top shoulder bone and neck. I only wore it a few hours. The next day I had a red itchy rash. It's not gone away - I honestly can't tell if it's better or worse, but it does seem to be spreading and on close inspection, there are tiny bumps that look like they might be pustules. It ITCHES so bad.

This appears to be some horrible allergic reaction. I'm 1.5 years into Lyme treatment and finished Infusio (stem cells) one month ago.

I've been applying cocoa butter - which seems to calm it down some and tonight I applied Neosporin in case there is some kind of bacteria happening.

Anyone have any insight? I know it's random. Just crossing fingers here. Thanks!

What are the ingredients in the Salonpas? I'm not familiar with it.

I've been wondering abut the Infusio. How are you doing?

It says: Menthol and methyl salycilate.

I've been OK. Really tired, but a different kind of tired. Sleepy mostly, achy, but a tad better for the most part. Otherwise not a lot has changed. We'll see. It's only been a month smile

So it looks like it’s a topical aspirin

Do you tolerate aspirin orally?

I don’t have and advice - maybe a visit to your Dr is in order if it doesn’t improve soon.

UPDATE: It's not a little over a week and the rash is still there. For a few days, it looked like it was subsiding, but it came back with a vengeance today. To be fair, I wore a bra today and I think that set it off. It really itches, is red, raised, lumpy, bumpy.

I don't even know what to do. I've been putting coconut oil and that helps, but just touching it with clothing bugs it. I'm sure it has a lot to do with the stem cells and my immune system being out of whack.

Have you tried any anti-histamines?

Nothing OTC. I have some quercetin and have been drinking nettle tea. Usually those would do it, but this is not letting up. Today I put a Manuka honey patch and it's less pissed, but still red. Ugh.

I can only use the Lidocaine only versions of Salonpas. The versions that have menthol started to burn badly within minutes and I removed it. My guess is that it burned your skin in some weird way. I was really surprised at the reaction I had to it but really love the new Lidocaine roller.

I'd try Arnicare cream. Arnica is marked pain relief but I've used it when hydrocortisone cream didn't work for skin irritation. I'd also try cortaid. Both can be found otc at most drug stores and grocery stores.

It must have been the menthol. It was not the normal ones I use - I finally realized. Ugh.

Anyway, just wanted to update the final result. I applied manuka honey on it for two days and it's finally fading and healing. The manuka helped right away.

I'm glad it's better. Just for your info all Salonpas used to have menthol. It's just been in the last year or so that they started advertising the lidocane only patches and roller. I've actually had trouble finding the patches but my CVS recently started carrying the rollers. The patches are 4% lidocane which is pretty good. I used to get 5% lidocane patches that were prescription only which my insurance will no longer cover. These patches are a decent otc substitute.
