Hey everyone. I've been on a rifampin/plaquenil combo for 16 days. I'm currently 10 months into treatment. I've been on rifampin for months now and the plaquenil is new. I've developed a rash on my stomach and chest last night. The rash on my stomach looks like small red dots clustered everywhere. My chest has small red dots and blotches of redness. It is burning like a very bad sunburn. I've noticed in the past few hours it is spreading to my neck and arms a little. My questions is do you think this seems like an allergic reaction to the plaquenil or is it part of a herx? I'm diagnosed with lyme and bartonella currently. Bart was clinically diagnosed. Seeing llmd tomorrow but am anxious for any input. Thank you!

It could be an allergic reaction I would stop taking it until you speak with your llmd tomorrow. Just in case.

On the other hand Bart can cause weird rashes but since you just started a new medicine I would err on the side of caution until tomorrow.

Take care and others should be along to other there suggestions too.

He told me to stop taking it as well. The burning makes me think Bart but you never know! Thanks!

Girlie- the rash wasn't from allergic reaction. He attributed it to bartonella. Switched off to start babesia treatment anyways. Thanks!
