Has anyone used Tree of Life for genetic MTHFR consult? I had a phone consult and we went over my 23&Me genetic tests. I can not detox and therefore can't treat very much due to severe herxing. To open up my detox pathways I am supposed to take 17 various capsules of theirs a day. That's a lot of expensive capsules and I hate capsules.

I would really like to know if anyone has used Tree of Life's recommendations and it actually helped before I try this?

You paid for their service. Do they only sell/recommend their supplements? Cant they just send a list and let you decide later? I never rush into things like that.

There has been more than a few with detox issues here lately. Have you tried adding D-Limonmene yet? Were recent posts on it, its a detoxer better than most.
Had initial lyme symptoms late 80's, then again and with bullseye early 90's. Ended ABX for Lyme in 2015. Rebuilding / fine tuning / fixing muscles since then; member "10 Percenters Lyme Club". What an adventure this has been. Hashimotos adds to the enjoyment.

astroman, I paid for the consult but not the supplements. They give you the list of the supplements and it is your option to purchase them with further consults on your progression. I am not sure if they would list the ingredients or not for me in each supplement. Probably not. They are listed like Nrf2 Accelerator and Hydrogen Peroxide Scavenger...

These are supposed to address my genetic reasons for not detoxing like I do not process iron very well and I do not make Gaba causing all the anxiety. Supposedly they are trying to open my detox pathways.

I have not tried d-limonmene yet. Maybe I should.

Yes, i did this. Sounds like they recommended similar supps. I am taking the glutamate II & peroxide scavenger. I thought I would do the others as “phase 2”, but i haven’t bought them yet. I haven’t noticed a difference and discontinued the glutamate scavenger III before bed. I sleep better with Gaia Sleep Thru.

Other supps they suggested were aquah2, autophagy assist, h202 detox, nrf2 accelerator, nutrition & antioxidant accelerator. Haven’t decided if I’ll move forward with those.

k07, how long have you been on their supplements? They also recommended ACAT Assist, Fatty Acid Assist, Glutamate Scavenger II and Histamine Scavenger. I've been burnt so many times that I question everything.

I would not have even questioned it if it had been 5 or 6 capsules a day. Seventeen capsules is phase one for me. cry

Sounds like an interesting service, but they can throw out the bait. I say that without knowing the cost. Looking at my 50 page gene report has been a long project to say the least, even the gene Dr I first went to did not know that much.

If it were me, and this seemed overly expensive, I'd learn what there supps really are, as to try on my own. You might not need all of them, as you dont know which gene defects are currently expressed/activated right now.

D-Limonene is a phaze II detoxer, even mentions it on the Jarrow bottle.

astroman, I forgot that not all the genes will express themselves. The consult is not expensive. It is the supplements that are expensive if you purchase all of them. I appreciate your thoughts on this and the d-limonene recommendation.

***Does their supplement list show with pathway its for? (so you can treat individual at your own pace). If so, this sounds great provided one can figure out what their supps are behind the name.**

The gene Dr I went to separated group gene defects into their respective pathways- noting some overlap, which is frustrating. Treating each pathway separately makes more sense, as doing everything at once only complicates matters. I learned some things with this approach. It is time consuming too- there is no quick fix, some things are not fixable- yet.

It can be quick money for some Drs though, as you might be experiencing.

I threw some supps at certain genes that had no results, I'm guessing they were not expressed.

D-Limonene does help my liver/detox phase II pathway. I'm not so sure the more popular liver detoxers to anything for me.

Astro, how specifically does the limonene help you detox?
I've been skeptical about this detox business but thinking maybe there's something to it. I've always been sensitive to caffeine, alcohol, and experience the mental side effects of drugs listed in the pdr. Then, there's Lyme herbs and abx 😨

I cant explain the details. In plain English: D-L supports phase II liver pathway. Including "desludging" bile ducts. Jarrow even states this. Very few products will do this.

I guess I wasn't clear in my question, I'll try again, how does the limonene make you feel? What symptoms does it clear for you?

A little better sleep, and the morning after : A better feeling gut, clearer mind, less need for AM coffee. It cured my GERD years ago. Helped in clearing Candida. Less Anxiety. My Biliruban is sometimes now normalized after this. I have not had "Jaundice face" anymore.

It helped Diflucan herxing and ABX herxing toward the end (thats when I stared to use it more). I did not use it in my first ABX session and I herxed 5 months long - wish I used it more then. My initial use was just for GERD (was a miracle) and candida about 10 years ago, before lyme Dx.
