I was asked to test "IgG sub-classes 1,3 through Labcorp" - unfortunately only instructions I received and there's not been any more clarification despite requests.

I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on what this may be. When I look at the Lyme tests available through Labcorp I can't see any of the tests stating the above.

I know Armin labs is well regarded here in Canada and was thinking whether I should do their Borrelia Elispot instead.

If the point is to gauge the efficacy of the treatment I received and whether I am still ill, would that meet the criteria?

Last question: Another Lyme patient told me not to do any tests until six weeks after all treatments were stopped. I am still on oral abx and will be for a few more weeks. Is there an actual reason not to test while on oral abx?

Your doctor is most likely referring to the same acronym (IgG) but a completely different test: Immunoglobulin G.

Labcorp offers 1-4 for that test.

Most Lyme docs don’t retest to gauge treatment - I know the WB can’t be used as antibodies can still show up even when you’re in remission.
Also you could still have active infection and have no antibodies show positive.

I haven’t heard of any LLmd’s using that labcorp test you mentioned to determine if you’re in remission.

But I know here in BC. Canada there is a Dr who does use Armin Labs to gauge treatment - I don’t know if it can be relied on.
If it was a good indicator - then I would think more LLMD’S would be using it.

Thanks so much LymeSick.

I think that makes sense. Although I'm struggling to understand why I was asked for this when I have never complained about sinus, ear and my rashes look nothing like EBV rashes.

It's possible they just made something up - which they have unfortunately done before.

And thank you too Girlie. I am struggling with absolutely necessary spending versus nice to have spending. Still trying to decide.
