So I am super excited because the ONE thing I haven't treated yet is the one thing that came back and could explain all my remaining symptoms so maybe I am on the right track!

Bartonella Henselae is what came back positive.

Negative for everything else, babesia strains and borrellia.

I could possibly have these still obviously but that leads me to my next question..

I have been taking Mepron and Zithromax for a total of 3 months now. It's hard for me to just stop now when I am so close to reaching the minimum treatment length of babesia. Especially when I JUST refilled my $300 Mepron prescription.

However, I think maybe I should fill it because I am so sick of being sick and if this is all I am dealing with then starting now would be best.

Thoughts?

And also, for those of you that have treated bartonella with Rifampin. Is there terrible die off? How quickly did you personally see improvement?

Nic - I will say what I said to K07 about her test results...

"Congratulations".... !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think you understand the mixed feelings of congratulations, right? smile
Sorry you are positive but glad you are getting answers and clues to helping you know what to treat moving forward. smile

Wish we had the money to test all of us with this test, but alas, treating all four of us, I've had to become much wiser about spending money for medical now (after going through this for several years now...). If I had the money, I think it would be good information to have from this test! So glad you guys were able to test, but sorry you had to test twice though!

Truly wishing you the best in your journey!

PS Sorry I don't have abx advice, as we don't do them anymore. So, I'll let somebody else who is more current on abx respond. smile
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

Now I'm jealous (-: Wish I only had bart too! Did it have NSA next to it?

I actually took rifampin for 6 weeks or so with NO issues. I had done a detox protocol for a 2 wks before starting - ALA, phosphatidylcholine, NAC, liposomal glut. I took it with doxy, bactrim and plaquenil. I also took A-Bart full dose with no issues.

Hopefully someone will chime in that has kicked bartonella to the curb.

Congrats!

Well, since you’re three months in, I would not stop Babs treatment now - since the minimum is 4-5 months.

If you stop short - you may wish you hadn’t down the road.

Rifampin was not hard to take re: side effects but you can certainly herx on it! It’s one medication that I was diligent about taking it prior to meals not with meals.

Thank you so much everyone!! smile

K07 - No it did not.. which I am glad it didn't.. I am not sure how exactly to interpret the NSA.. seems like more questions. Maybe yours was like that because you treated bart with Rifampin in the past?

Girlie - Thanks! I agree, might as well plow through another month or two, although my LLMD wants me to move to bart right away...

Why did you take it before meals?

Yeah that's strange!

I say we send it in again and see what comes back this time LOL. I wouldn't actually do that but it's interesting how we both got different results each time. Hopefully this test is as accurate as they say that it is.

OriolCarol - This is done through DNA Connexions.

If only we had a money tree! It does make me a little skeptical. But I do think I have or had Lyme/Bart.

Have you read this article before? /www.betterhealthguy.com/dnaconnexions

Scott (betterhealthguy) has no lyme/bart/babs symptoms anymore yet they still show up on dna connexions. This makes me feel better!

I should have been more clear - should be taken on empty stomach for absorption - so not right before meals but an hour.
I didn’t always give it the full hour tho - sometimes it was half hour

Yes rifampin should be taken on an empty stomach for best absorption, so that works out to 1 hour before food or 2-3 hours afterwards. I can attest to the orange pee. lol

Re your question about timelines for improvement:

I've been on rifampin for 2.5 weeks and I do notice some improvement already. I actually noticed a quick lessening of some of my symptoms between 42-78 hours after starting it, then at the 1 week mark things ramped up a bit for a few days but subsided. So for me no real bad herxing, but I am doing daily detox. The only thing that made me herx like crazy was a-bart.

I always question whether the drugs are helping or it's just a coincidental, natural waxing and waning of symptoms, but overall there is a definite improvement in my symptoms. I'm starting to do things and at times not even notice symptoms, and when I do they just don't seem as bad. I actually walked the dog around the block today and did not have to stop once due to foot pain. It's been months since I could do that.

mrkartoom like rifampin! lol

i treated babesia duncani for most of 2015 couldn't shake it. when i went back to it in 2017 it took almost a year to clear. babesia is no joke. just because you don't think you have any symptoms from it doesn't mean it's not affecting you. it could also block clearing of other pathogens like bart.

i would recommend you do a good 6 months of mepron/zithro and once you're done try to get in one week a month of some babesia killing stuff like cryptolepis and artemisinin. you don't want it popping its head back up.

an excellent bart protocol is rifabutin/bactrim. you can throw minocycline in there once in a while for good BBB penetration.

Dr H. talks about asymptomatic babesia in one of his patients. She wasn't getting well...so he treated her for Babesia and she got up out of her wheelchair.

True story smile

I think I am going to take your advice Rikky, and take artemisinin and cryptolepis throughout bart treatment. I'll do the art 3 days on 11 days off and CSA daily. Hopefully that helps me keep it in check and also kill it if it's there while also treating bartonella.
