Hi,

My daughter has been breaking out in rashes or hives several times a week and we can’t figure out what’s causing it. I don’t know if she might have a tickborn infection. 3 years ago she got lice and about 2 months later had swollen glands for an entire year. They would swell up to golf ball size and would cause her pain. I discussed it with my LLMD and he said it could be Bartonella, and lice can carry it. After a year, the swollen glands went away and she seemed fine. I don’t know if she might have a tickborn infection and it’s causing her immune system issues and causing these weird allergic reactions.

I’m wondering if any of you who have children that got sick, did they form new allergies?

Thanks so much!

I had a few weeks of full body allergic reactions. I never figured out the cause and wonder if I may have gotten lyme in Wi years ago but didn't start getting symptoms until recently, and perhaps the allergic reaction was part of it. With treatment, my allergies have been better actually, although I do have kind of sensitive skin.

Hmmm.... that sounds like my daughter... 1st it actually started with her skin suddenly getting sensitive like 2 years ago but now she constantly brakes out in an itchy rash. It’s usually in the evening. She has been bitten by ticks a few times, majority of the time it was out of my control. Once they went close to the woods for gym class and got a tick at school and once my friend had a back yard party and even though she used tick repellant she came home with 3 ticks attached to her and my younger daughter had 5 ticks on her. I couldn’t believe how tick infested her yard was and how tick repellant just did not work.

Do you think I should take her to an LLMD? She just has the allergies right now and does need at least 10 hours of sleep at age 13 to feel ok. Otherwise she feels tired all day.

Thanks for your response!

Yes, you should. I never remember having a tick attached to me, though when I lived in WI I definitely had ticks on me. So if she's had ticks attached and is having weird symptoms, take her in.

Yes, DS had a sudden onset full milk allergy - even milk and honey soap caused hives. It was before he was diagnosed and lasted about 4-5 months. Prior to that he was irritated by milk and was using those pills you take when you have dairy. The pediatrician said it wasn't possible to get a sudden milk allergy at age 12-13, haha. It went away before we even had the diagnosis and didn't come back even though he had SO many symptoms during treatment/herxing.

It helps if you can pinpoint what's causing them, but that's not always possible.
