Hi all,
For those of you with methylation defects and a terribly functioning methylation pathways causing horrible herxes.... were you able to somehow improve your detoxing and reduce the herxes? I feel like this is a big reason why I can’t push my treatment and get better. Even with herbs, it takes me years to get up to a decent amount of drops per day as just 1 drop increase causes so much herring.

Thank you!

I don't know what, if any, methylation defects I have as I haven't had the genetic testing. I do have great difficulty detoxing based on feeling toxic much of the time and getting little relief from detox methods. I also have to go low and slow with the herbs.

I have noticed some changes lately. I was on Augmentin for a week in December for a sinus infection. Afterward I had a long two month herx or flare. However, since taking that abx, I've consistently had little to no head symptoms like I had before, even when experimenting with increased doses of antimicrobial herbs that previously did elicit head symptoms. I strongly suspect the abx killed some stuff in my brain/head/CNS and I'm still reaping the benefits. Then, since cleaning up my diet this past week, my whole body inflammation got better and I was able to increase doses even more. Today, however, I felt pretty bad and swollen and sore. Probably too many toxins again. I tend to get overzealous with the doses when I feel less inflamed.

I also learned I am still being exposed to enough mold to affect lab results.

I really think it depends a lot on your total toxic load and your ongoing toxin exposures beyond whatever endotoxins might be released when treating the infections. May very well also depend greatly on how dysfunctional your immune responses are to begin with. I was very sick for 2 years and symptomatic for 7 before getting any kind of treatment. Cytokine remodulating herbs are supposed to correct the altered immune responses, but I've had no change there after 9.5 months.

Anyone have anything on this? It seems like my Dr. Hasnt addressed this much. Im taking a HIGH dose b-complex that includes folate. I take high dose sunflower lecithin which is phosphatyl choline, and high quality Omega 3fish oil. I also am taking acetyl- L-carnitine, hyaleuronic acid, curcumin, anxiety control(gaba & herbs)> but I dont know if ANY of those address the poor methylation....

It just seems like I cannot tolerate treatments> inflammtion flares up then PAIN! Ive been back on Alinia & doxy since June1st but want to stop!!!

Lecithin is a methyl donor. It increases methionine through the BHMT pathway, using zinc as a cofactor. Carnitine is either a methyl donor or a mitochondrial fuel, i don't remember which but it has a role in methylation treatment. Have you explored mb12 and mfolate? I dont think what you're taking is enough to kickstart methylation

I have horrific flares when I take anything that kills bacteria, boosts the immune system or disrupts biofilm. Look into MCAD (mast cell activation disorder). I have been unable to treat, but I am seeing an allergist next month and I hope to get some help. However, I have had Lyme for 5 years and haven't received any help from the medical community I am not holding my breath. Good luck.

Hi! I am taking methylation supplements by Thorn, it was
a game changer for me.
Another important thing that really helps
is Coffee enema.
Everyday, its my 4th month and I cannot say enough
good words about it.
