I don't really know who to turn to so here I am again needling reassurance and guidance!! I am on week 3 of hellish neurological symptoms, my head and neck on top of all the pins and needles, blurry vision, anxiety, etc. has been so bad! Anyone have Bartonella pop up and get worse over the weeks? It seems things lighten up a little by the evening, although I'm scared saying that since I might jinx it!! The only treatment I'm on is doxy and BLT, I told 3 drops this am. If the head symptoms would lighten up then I think i could handle some of the other things a bit better, but I just don't know what is going on with me! The only other thing that I was thinking could possibly be causing die off is I've been using a PEMF mat every evening while reading to my son, but I keep it at a super low frequency since things have fallen apart for me. My llmd is referring me to a neurologist to get his opinion, but that won't be for a couple months. I'm falling apart and so very scared!!

I think you should stop the doxy - let things settle down.

Are you detoxing? And what are you doing/taking for detox?
(Sorry if you've mentioned this before - I can't remember)

I'm doing epsom salt baths, chollera, activated charcoal, neuro anti tox, pinella/burbur, yucca, dry brushing. I restarted the doxy since after 2 weeks there were no improvements. It's so frustrating and depressing!

Do you have any herbs like kudzu root? That seems to help my head symptoms.

Also, if you have any bart herbs like sida acuta or houttuynia, you might try taking a drop or so and see if they might help any. Japanese knotweed might help, too.

I read about kudzu root, yes I think I will get some. Are those other herbs for Bart? I'm hoping this is Bart rearing it's ugly head! I sure don't like the idea of having treated Lyme for a year and a half and Babesia for 9 months for nothing! I wish there was some way to know for sure!

If it's too much for you you should back off a bit. I am currently dealing with this. But, I am on a very aggressive protocol. I am stopping Flagyl and adding in GSE for now. 3 weeks is not very long. We are all different. After 3 months of treatment, I was worse than when I started. My LLMD says it's not uncommon to see symptoms get worse later in treatment. Means you made a break through. So, actually, you should feel better that you are breaking through early. However, you don't want to suffer too hard for too long. These bugs are very slow growing. So, if you have to back off for a week or two to get to feeling better, I think that would be the way to go.

Can you call your LLMD tomorrow? I know it takes forever for my LLMD or one of the nurses to get back to me. So, I will just do what I feel is best. Which usually consists of me taking a break.

Tell yourself all this will pass. This has happened to me quite a few times during treatment. When I first got sick I would think to myself if only I could get my walking and balance back to normal I can deal with all the other stuff. Wrong! Anxiety has been the worst for me so far.

Good luck! And know that you are not alone.

Yes. Houttuynia (or IHA formula which also has Isatis and Alchornia from woodlandessence.com), sida acuta, and Japanese knotweed are all in Buhner's bartonella protocol. Sida acuta works on both bart and babesia. Knotweed is also the core herb for Lyme.

Knotweed is supposed to be a good anti-inflammatory, but I herxed some on it but finally got up to a decent dose after many months. Sida acuta and houttuynia (or IHA) are pretty potent so just start with a drop or two. Kudzu is not likely to cause a herx. I started that at 10 drops then went to 15 and then 20.

I recommended taking herbs for bartonella because you stopped all treatments for 2 weeks and it didn't get any better. If it's bartonella symptoms coming out, then probably the only thing that's going to curb the symptoms is to start treating bart.

Since you have been in such terrible pain and herx so badly, I thought taking a few drops of bart herbs might work better for you that jumping into antibiotic treatment for bartonella. At least see how the herbs work for you. If you take a drop or two and feel no better or worse, then increase it by another drop until you feel some effect from it for better or worse.

Just be sure to go slow and give it at least 3 days before increasing. Treatment tends to have a cumulative effect. For me, herxes tend to hit around 3 weeks after adding new herbs.

Hoagie- thanks for your encouragement! I do hope I've made some progress in my treatment plan, trying to stay somewhat strong but it's so hard as we all know! I see my llmd on Thursday, we did a bunch of blood work so I'll keep you posted!

walkingbyfaith- yes, I think that is a good idea! I don't think I could handle starting rifampin or anything like that, so I'll talk to my llmd on Thursday about those herbs. Thank you!!
