alunke - i just edited your title to correct a spelling error on the l-lysine...just so members would know what you're referring to.

I took l-lysine for a bit - can't remember why though...didn't have a reaction.

L-lysine is supposed to help with the cold sores...that's interesting that it gave you one...

Why did you start taking the l-lysine?

L-lysine can cause side effects, they are usually abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea. I got a rash from it.
They usually recommend you stay on it for 6 months. Its a supplement and doesn't work that fast.
I think your immune system is running down a bit - I doubt l-lysine would have bought anything on. Hold off until you pick up a bit and try it again.

L-lysine is anti-viral...and since cold sores are a virus - that's why it can be effective.

I wonder if it was just a coincidence that you got one the day after taking the L-lysine.

Hi all!
Im on Lysine for my EBV reactivation - now 4 months, starts with 2g, now on 3g/day.

yet I can not say that I would observe the change, but yes, it's an suplement for a longer time.
I hope, it help me with EBV, antivirals like Valtrex makes me vorse... Lysine not.
