I was having a discussion with someone who was claiming the DNA Connexions test is the best...and here's why:

"They have you exercise for 30-60 min , focusing on moving and stuff/sore joints/muscles (or get a massage if you can’t exercise that much) This is to get the bacteria and fragments out into the bloodstream, as the Borrelia spirochete and other pathogens tend to hide in tissues. Then you wait one hour to give the kidneys time to filter the debri out of the blood and into the urine. Then you urinate and collect the sample. This means that instead of 5 to 15 cc of blood as a sample, you essentially have your entire blood volume (filtered by your kidneys) as a sample size, not that “small”.

So is that accurate about having your entire blood volume as a sample size?

I don't know about that. But I think urine tests are probably more accurate than blood tests in general (that's just my opinion).

I thought it was just another blood test, this sounds good.

Should be good for...$400 (??).
Had initial lyme symptoms late 80's, then again and with bullseye early 90's. Ended ABX for Lyme in 2015. Rebuilding / fine tuning / fixing muscles since then; member "10 Percenters Lyme Club". What an adventure this has been. Hashimotos adds to the enjoyment.

It’s a urine test.

I'm no expert on this but your entire blood volume is filtered about every 40 minutes. Problem is, filtration from the glomerulus to the bowmans space is to the exclusion of macromolecules. So I don't think DNA from the blood should be ending up in the urine unless it was broken down into much smaller fragments. If there was DNA in the urine I would suspect it was coming from the urinary tract and not the blood. But I don't know for sure.

Just researched this yesterday. I see $500 for a Lyme kit. It does seem to test for alot. Compared to money I have spent along the way I would done this for my son a year ago if I knew about it. I probably will do it for him.

If y'all are interested. Here is a podcast with the lab manager at DNA Connexions:

Interesting - she said (when referring to WB testing) - that early on it's Igm and later IgG.
We know that isn't the case...with lyme. Often IgM antibodies linger. (possibly a continual reactivation)
