Thankfully, I have not had major anxiety in quite some time, I do remember it though, thus try to reply to anxiety posts from others.
I still have some AM brain fog, which is unfortunately very common with Hashimoto, even with proper thyroid levels. Coffee helps, but also make me jittery. I'm trying to ditch coffee.
Taurine is in Red Bull which always gave me a calm mental focus, NOT hyper "alert
ment". Unlike some energy drinks, there is less caffeine in RB than coffee. The taurine takes the edge off caffine.
L-theanine can also be combined with taurine, some like this combo.
*Taurine is an amino acid and, unlike L-theanine, is also good for muscle control.* It is a precursor to several brain chemicals including GABA. GABA alone can have a tranquilizer effect in some people though, it would knock me out, with a hangover later on.
Some might need Choline, covered on this forum quite a bit, or its precursors before it. If you have enough already, this can make you edgy though.
