Since treating with herbs for Lyme, Bartonella and mycoplasma, I'm feeling more energy and a decrease in some symptoms. But CNS symptoms are still bothering me more than anything. I have a constant internal buzzing, accompanied by little random twitches all over, which can turn into outward tremor when I'm really stressed or tired.

So I recently started taking Kudzu and also Chinese Cat's Claw (Uncaria rhynchophylla). I haven't noticed any side effects or my usual symptoms of herxing (which is normally fatigue and aching joints.) But the buzzing and twitching seems to be worse lately. Is this a herx, caused from the herbs that actually treat these symptoms??

Thanks for any input you can offer.

Hi for buzzing ,electrical buzzing, tremors Buhner suggests Sida acuta.

It helped me with those symptoms and head pressure.

I take kudzu and Uncaria rychophylla but have not experienced any increase in symptoms from them.

The Uncaria rhyncophylla is necessary for remyelination of neurons according to Buhner.

Sida is also listed for muscle twitching.

Sida can be strong, and in some people it can sometimes exacerbate symptoms.

Just watch for that and then back the dose down until you can tolerate it if that happens.

I still believe that Sida acuta was a major game changer for me. I have taken breaks from using it per my llmd, but I try to go at least every other month using it.

Take care and someday soon you will be so very relieved when the buzzing goes away.

goshawk, thanks much for replying. I hadn't thought about it, but I just recently added Sida Acuta to my protocol as well! I had almost forgotten.

So far my usual herxing has been fatigue and muscle/joint pain so I didn't know what was up when I started having more buzzing.

How often should one take breaks from it?

Jo,

Why did your doctor tell you to take breaks from the sida acuta? Did he tell you to take breaks from any of the other herbs?

I didn't have any herxing from kudzu or Chinese cat's claw.

So since you recently started the Sida your probably herxing from it.

I would just back off a bit and detox and use binders to help relieve the herxing.

After this calms down a bit I would start very slow and low dose again. Then build up from there.

Im not sure that its necessary or not to take breaks.

Im just going by what my llmd asked me to do in my case. She said to alternate it every other month due to it being a strong herbal for me.

If I increased it just a little to much I would get more internal vibrations. But overall it really helped me alot early on in treatment about a year ago.

Now I usually take only about 10 drops 3x day . Its not a full dose but its what I can tolerate.

Hopefully others will offer some of their experiences to.

Oh, good. This makes me feel better. I'm at 4 drops of sida acuta now and 6 drops of IHA. I have a hard time getting the right balance between those 2. They've both helped me and caused herxing. Two times now, I've had improvements followed by worsening of symptoms. Sometimes I get the feeling it's a sign that the bugs are coming out stronger in response to the treatment and that increasing rather than decreasing the drops is what is needed. However, I haven't been bold enough to do that yet for fear of sending the herxes out of control, and end up backing off instead.

Yes, thanks goshawk. It's good to know that the increased vibration is probably herxing from the Sida acuta. I had taken it before for awhile in a formula that had multiple ingredients so wasn't quite sure of the dose when taking it alone, and haven't taken it in any form for several months. I'll cut back on it and see if that helps. I added it back to help treat Bartonella but I'm so glad to know it might help with the vibrations. I think that's one of my worst symptoms these days.
