Resistant to a class

Mozayeni says that bart become resistant to rifampin rapidly, so if it happen, it becomes resistant at all abx of rifampin class like rifabutin? It's curiously because some people say that when azitro becomes resistant, all macrolides become.

I'm curious about that too. The bartonella I have is definitely rifampin-resistant. Strangely, azithromycin seemed to be slightly more helpful.

Carol - I haven’t heard that - I did watch the webinar where he spoke about Bart and Biaxin/Rif treatment. Don’t recall him mentioning that.

I didn’t think that the was the case - if one is resistant - everything in that class also is.

Plus I also thought pairing a second antibiotic helped to prevent the resistance.
