Does anyone know what causes the head pressure and is it safe to fly with so much head pressure?
Asking for my college-age child Igenix positive for Lyme, and co-infection Babesia Duncani. Treated by Lyme Literate Infectious Disease specialist in D.C area. Went 3 yrs of dr shopping. All said nothing wrong. Incredibly, a chiropractor doing some kind of sensitivity testing by placing different vials on child's chest diagnosed him w/ viruses and parasites which lead us to LLMD. Did Doxy, Mepron, Ceftin, detoxes, Bruhner protocol, hot saunas, hot baths. Biggest change came when son adopted plant protein based nutrition, organic, 1 gal of clean water in glass jug "Whole Foods" refillable for $.29, Apple Cider Vinegar with the Mother, Cat's Claw, Methylated B-12, Cowden's Protocol, Lipioc Acid, Ashwaganda, Methylated Magnesium, Vitamin C 1000 mgs., Theralac Probiotic, 1 at bedtime to restore healthy gut bacteria (particularly important during antibiotic treatments.)
His biggest problem now is head pressure. What is this? How to get rid of? Safe to fly cross country with head pressure?
Would appreciate any thoughts by those who have this experience.

Head pressure could be from Babesia.

I did fly when I had it, and I was fine. I would assume it may be different for everyone.

In Buhner's "Healing Lyme" he suggests Pueria lobata(kudzu) 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. of tincture 3 -4 X daily.

I had relief after using Sida acuta. Its a strong , potent herbal though.

Always check for contradictions and side effects , I am not an medical expert.

I recently had the same concerns - in February I flew across the continent for an appt at the J Clinic in Washington DC.

I had no issues with my head during the flights

I think the head pressure is from Babesia (at least in my case)

Is your son still being treated?

Thank you, everyone for the helpful responses. Girlie, my son chooses to no longer see his LLMD, despite my desire for his regular follow up until he's 100%. But, he's of legal age, so I cannot make him.
To his credit, he follows herbal remedies and detoxing and sees a Naturopath in Charlottesville. He works, goes to school and seeks balance in his life.
My biggest concern for him is the head pressure. I do not know of any drug or herb that crosses the blood brain barrier, so what in his brain is causing the pressure and how to get rid of it? Will it get worse and is it causing further damage?
What's the magic of the IV treatments vs oral antibiotics? People in my area have died from Lyme and I don't know why. They had the means for any treatment anywhere.
Any thoughts on my son's status I described?
Thank you.

Hi SouthernGull,
I edited your first post so I could read it - some of us with Neuro Lyme/Bartonella have eye issues and bold print and certain colors make it very difficult to read text.

I too would suggest Kudzu - I've been using it for the last 2 years and it's been the only thing that has helped, despite detoxing like a mad woman/it was my new job for months.

There are many herbs and drugs that cross the BBB, but they must be used with care. Obviously, kudzu root also has this ability, or it wouldn't work.

There is no magic bullet of any kind with these infections. Most of us seem to need something different, even if we have the exact same infections, and extremely similar symptoms. This is because we also need to take into consideration the terrain of the whole body, as these infections involve the entire body for many of us.

With the experience that I had personally, and what I've watched others go through, here is what I believe needs to happen for many of us to heal:

a)Detoxing - gene mutations, multiple tick-borne infections and more can have a big impact on our ability to detox.

You can find some really good detoxing suggestions in the "New to Lyme?" thread that sits at the top of the forum. And this is another really good resource for detoxing ideas for Lyme patients:
www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.html

But, there is such a thing as over detoxing. This happens when we move more toxins than our body is capable of processing out effectively. Many toxins are stored in our tissues, and by detoxing, we move them to the bloodstream where we can process them out of our bodies through the lymph system, then on to the liver and kidneys as so on. We have to be sure to add in more detoxing routines slowly and carefully, or we will end up herxing just like we had never been detoxing. This article helps to explain that some: www.tiredoflyme.com/4-reasons-why-you-still-feel-bad-despite-detoxing.html

b)Supporting the body functions/systems. We have to have the body working at it's peak performance to heal from something as devastating as these infections. Supporting any gland, organ, body system that is struggling will allow the body to switch it's 'concentration' from just trying to function over to healing.

c) Raise the immune function. Many legitimate Lyme researchers now believe that it's the lowered immune function that determines who gets chronic Lyme and who heals right away. We already know that Lyme lowers the immune function and when a person has Bartonella and/or Babesia, the immune function is further compromised, so to heal we must raise our immune function.

d) Lastly, oddly enough, are anti-infective treatments. Many of us have experienced treatment failures, so we can see that the treatments aren't the only thing we need to have - there has to be more to the equation, but anti-infective treatments are very important!! Lyme bacteria are one of the most complicated bacteria! Although it takes only hours or days for most bacteria to replicate, Lyme bacteria only replicates in the body every few weeks.

One of the antibiotics with good penetration to the brain is Minocycline.
I believe it is inflammation in the brain causing those symptoms. If he doesn't effectively treat the infections, it probably won't get better.
Detoxing can help. The inflammations can be caused by toxins from the die-off of the bacteria. Effective detoxing can help flush out those toxins.

There's not magic with the IV treatments. They do penetrate the CNS better.
