Yesterday I went to an urgent care because I had horrible stomach pains. That kept getting worse throughout the day

They found two things..

1. They did an X-Ray and found that my colon was completely full of stool. They said they rarely ever see it this bad.

2. I had some trace blood in my urine. They think this could be a kidney stone which could be causing the pain but aren't sure.

They put me on miralax but will this alone actually clear up my colon??

The weird part is, I have frequent bowl movements and usually quite a bit. about 2-3 times a day. BUT they are always very soft and thin which I see can actually show that the colon is impacted.

Has anyone had this issue before and what fixed it?

If you had a kidney stone it would have shown up in x-ray. I once thought I was constipated with gut pain and took miralax too. Pain got increasingly worse and I ended up in ER like you, and they found a 7mm boulder and two small stones in left Kidney.

The miralax should get things moving. If not a large dose of Vit C or Magnesium should have the desired effect. An enema from CVS may help to start the process.

Happened to me too! The ER and the whole bit. I did several sessions of colon hydrotherapy. Absolutely crucial! Cramps stopped and I lost ten pounds! But it's starting to happen again so I'll have to go back.
I also take a supplement called Colon Motility Blend from Vitanica. Miralax did nothing, nor did Senna or anything else like that. I take something from my pain clinic called symproic ($60 copay/!) That helps too
I'm on short-acting pain meds when I need them and it doesn't help matters. Do you take any thin like that?

PS I'm on the couch with a heating pad on my stomach as we speak, so I feel your pian and I'm sorry you're feeling it too. sad

Nic,

That is awful sad. I'm so sorry for all you're going through. The blockage and possible kidney stone could very well have been the cause of the dizziness and of course the abdominal pain you'd been having.

That seems so weird, though, that you were having multiple bowel movements and yet had a colon full of stool. When my symptoms went full-on in 2015 after a respiratory infection, I got horrible inflammation that started in my sinuses and left ear and then moved into my chest cavity. Finally, it moved into my intestines and has never left. My intestines basically went into lockdown and I had to use enemas, Miralax, and Colace to keep from dying of constipation. I had an X-ray. They said it showed constipation but no blockage. CT scan with contrast and finally a colonoscopy all came back normal all while my intestines felt like they had been hijacked by aliens and were being squeezed flat!! The gastroenterologist was not helpful at all and took 4 months to check out my issues. I was furious. It was at that point that I left the idiot doctors and started seeing alternative practitioners.

I've found Natural Calm magnesium to be the most reliable thing to move my bowels, but I'm still dependent on it 2.5 years later. Not a good thing. I've never tried colonics, cleanses, or coffee enemas, so I can't speak about those. I have rubbed castor oil on my liver at bedtime, and that does help some, but I haven't done it consistently.

Please be sure to talk to your LLMD about all this. You want to get to the bottom of how all this happened in the first place. (If he says bartonella may have something to do with it, please tell us. I wonder if Bart is what shut my gut down.)

Also, make those doctors get to the root of that blood in your urine. That's alarming.

It makes me so mad that you have to make doctors do anything these days. If you're having a heart attack or you're bleeding to death where they actually see the blood coming out of you, they'll jump like firecrackers to save you. Pretty much anything else, they stand by idly and make no hurry to do anything. Infuriating. I'd love to see how fast they'd move if their body parts started shutting down.

Nic, while this sucks, at least you know. And who knows how long you have been carrying that.

I agree with ollyrolly. Find a facility that performs colon hydrotherapy and get it done a few times. It's actually very refreshing. I had 4 sessions done at Sanoviv. I was very nervous before my initial session. But, it went well. It will clear the blockage which is in all likelihood riddled with toxins which hasn't been getting you any better.

This is a good find IMO. Good luck!

Not necessarily - as she said they were 'soft and thin'. That makes it able to get by the impacted feces.

Thank you all so much, this helps a lot.

I will be sure to talk to my LLMD when I can. Has anyone tried oxy powder colon cleanse?

I read about it on amazon and it sounds pretty amazing.

Right now I decided I'm going to head to the ER since I had blood in my urine and the pain is still very sharp and not getting better.

I'll keep everyone posted....

Nic,

In the following thread, I mention a product that was very helpful to me, in the past, as well as many others I've personally known or that were friends-of-friends:

However, before deciding whether to use it or not, I recommend that you print a list of the ingredients* and discuss it with your doctor(s), as I certainly wouldn't want you to make anything worse.

Good Luck,
The Dude

*Botanical Ingredients:

Curaçao and Cape Aloe Leaf, Senna Leaf and Pod, Cascara Sagrada Aged Bark, Oregon Grape Root, Hawaiian Yellow Ginger Root, Garlic Bulb, and Habanero Pepper

WalkingbyFaith,

I hesitated mentioning the Dr. Schulze products (linked in my above post) to you, since your bowel motility has been so impaired for so long. That may seem counterintuitive, but our bowels are sensitive and can swing from constipation to diarrhea and back again when it gets irritated. Thus, I feared mentioning these herbal laxatives. But, considering your dependence on frequent, high-doses of magnesium, perhaps this is something for you to consider -- preferably, after discussing with your doctor, nurse, pharmacist, etc.

Sincerely,
The Dude

Thanks, Dude. Those ingredients should clear anyone out!! (LOL) Senna is a stimulant laxative and cascara sagrada is similar and will cause wavelike contractions in the colon. It is beneficial when treating parasites to help literally move the parasites out of the body. I have used neither as I knew I needed long term support. I learned about the cascara from Brenda (Real Food Rebel). It's in her dewormer recipe. She says she did use it long term until she healed her gut and thankfully was able to wean off it without any issues.

Those ingredients should, indeed, clear-out most anyone! You may need a biohazard suit with a flap in the back! Brenda's site has a lot of good information and offers a lot of hope, too!

Three more X-rays later and who knows how much money, the doctor said she saw hardly any stool and all the lab work was fine. Kidney, liver and white blood cell count.

So I guess it’s good but still have no idea where the pain is coming from and who is right as far as the colon goes.

Gosh I hate this. So frustrating

Yeah, Girlie, the one yesterday showed me the X-ray and there was a smoky white color throughout the whole colon which she said was stool and the one today said there was almost nothing.

I'm trying to stop laughing so I can be serious again 😛

Okay. Did anyone compare the first X-ray to the others? If not, I would go get all the X-rays to show to your doctor so he might could compare. I'm wondering if maybe what the first one thought was stool was actually inflammation. I'm not a medical person, though. I don't know what inflammation actually looks like or if it shows up at all on an X-ray.

I would say I may be a tad bit better than I was earlier but it's hard to say.. still painful when I stand up or put any pressure at all in the spot. (just left of my belly button about and inch and about an inch down)

WalkingbyFaith - That actually is exactly what I was planning on doing. If the pain is still there in the morning I was planning on scheduling an appointment with my primary care doc for Friday (since I am taking the day off from work) and having her compare the xrays.

When I was getting ready to leave the ER I asked one of the nurses if I could have a copy of the xray and they said that I could request one but I would probably get a description and no the actual image which is super weird to me.. anyway, I'll try! The first xray was taking at the same clinic that my primary care doc is at so that shouldn't be an issue for her to see.

You guys are all the best!! I am so lucky to have such an awesome support group that can make me laugh even in crappy times!(no pun intendedtongue )

Hi Nic!

My son suffered from severe constipation. So much so that I gave him a laxative but it contained inulin-a common prebiotic. This caused my son to have extreme gi pain-so bad he missed half a day of school everyday from November to March. I finally had the money to pay for a Doctors Data stool microbiology test which surprisingly showed no yeast but two pathogenic bacteria. And guess what-one thrives on inulin. So that prebiotic threw his already sensitive gut out. LLND ordered bactrim for ten days. And after two weeks of very good probiotics (without inulin) my son’s gut is much much better. And he is not constipated anymore. So maybe if you are still suffering you might consider that test as well. It would show any dysbiosis.

Take care!

constipation is normal in degenerative neurological diseases (such as MS, lyme etc...), the vague nerve that makes the colon move, is damaged. this means the peristalsis of the colon (the moves it does involuntary to push food through) are weaker. Thus u get more constipation than a normal person.

because of constipation with untreated lyme, i developed hemorrhoids, i never had any problems with this before lyme sad
now my constipation has been resolved because of lyme treatment, but my hemorrhoids are here to stay. talking about 100% recovery. ....right...

you should get hi quality probiotics, i take 3 brands per day, so more than 50 billion in total good bacteria from 20 strains... inulin is good for the bacteria in the colon, i never heard it "feeds lyme". Lyme is very hard to be fed, it needs a special diet, very complex, that only can be found in live tissue. The researchers had a hard time culturing this bacteria, they came up with a special medium for growth called BSK.

So rest assured, inulin does not "feed borrelia", it would be a very good thing for the researches if that were true, since compared to BSK, inulin is a very simple polysaccharide (some sort of sugar).

This is a complete list of the contents of BSK medium, which Borrelia likes to grow:

Product Description
BSK-H medium is a complex medium designed to support the growth of the Lyme disease spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi.
