Hello so I've been diagnosed with Lyme & 2 co infections now for a little over a month. & i know this is gonna be a long process but I must say im pretty disappointment so far. Most of the time I feel like maybe I don't have this disease because I notice no progress or even herxing.

My Lyme doctor started me on 2 antibiotics & I went a month like that. Noticing no improvement although day 5 & 6 I noticed more energy but still extremity foggy. I just seen my doctor a week ago & she doesn't know why I'm not feeling better. She has added cholestyramine to see if that would get things going better & it's been a week and I fee no different. Other then constapated..

sje also pointed out that most of her patients start feeling much worse when on that about the 3rd day or so because of the release of toxins but I haven't noticed it. Which also gets me thinking I don't have Lyme

I notice when taking one of the antibiotics I feel extremely hopeless and mad!! & very irritated! Has anyone experienced this?

Any replies would me much appreciated. I feel like my life is going down the drain.

It takes patience. One month isn’t long enough - and it may be that you don’t see improvements until Bart or Babesia is treated.

What abx are you on (if you want to share that) ?

Since you are having the symptoms of hopelessness and getting mad, that could be herxing.

I had that ...more the hopelessness and also fear but my husband has reminded me that I also did get mad easily. It has gone away with continued treatment.

I would make sure to detox...take warm Epsom salt baths, drink water with lemon juice daily.

Everyone is different . we all react/herx or some people don't herx.

At different stages of treatment things can sometimes dramatically change. For example:My Bartonnela didn't come out strong until I started a different ABX combo .

Your reaction or improvement may also depend on your bacterial load and how much is being killed off.

The 2 antibiotics I'm on are rifampin & clarithromycin. I'm treating the Bart first.

& goshawk you're probably right! It seems like as soon as I take the clarithromycin I turn into a different person. Anything anybody says makes me so angry for some reason. Then I start thinking I'm never going to get better & even have some suicidal thoughts. None of these things are like me at all & i usually just treat them like the fatigue & brain fog, just like any other symptom & ignore it.

Early on in treatment I noticed what seemed like a herx but we just figured out my daughter had the flu so I thought I'm just coming down with that. But then it kinda just disappeared the next day so it could have very well been a herx. I was very achy & had a busting headache.

But thank you both for replying! But was very helpful.

Rifampin and biaxin is a good combo for Bartonella.

The Bart guru uses those two abx.

It does sound like you experienced a herx. (achey, headache)

Are you detoxing?

The only detoxing I do is lemon water. I usually drink two a day.

Detoxing in most cases can really make a difference. You can take warm(not hot) Epsom salt baths or if its easier for you some people take Epsom salt foot baths.

On http://www.tiredoflyme.com/ website there is some good information on detoxing.

Thank you! Also I would like to ask. Have you had any experiences with cyst busters? I read some on it & I wonder if I need to try that since after like the first week I haven't noticed much

I take Flagyl approximately two days per month for cysts.
Tinidazole is another cyst buster - again not taken daily.

Some take the cyst busters twice a week.

I’ve recently been hearing that Rifampin can bust cysts but I’m it sure about it.

BBN!!,

All the symptoms you mentioned can be from bartonella. The abx you are on are addressing the bartonella, so that could definitely be herxing. Bartonella can definitely cause anger, rage, irritability, bouts of hopelessness, suicidal thoughts, bad headaches, muscle and bone pain, fatigue, and more.

You're showing clear symptoms from Rifampin, too. The black box warnings for that are depression to the point of suicidal. Also, it lowers your cortisol slightly by speeding up a CYP liver enzyme and that can cause mild adrenal fatigue which is a common cause of hopelessness. I used to get that all the time.
I'd say these are actually good signs even though they suck. I agree with what everyone above said- up your detoxing and youll probably feel a lot better- infared saunas, espom salt baths, etc. Just make sure to keep your salt intake high

Other than the aforementioned sodium I'd also supplement magnesium and potassium while on these abx.
