Hi all, in the midst of testing for my 12 year old, and trying to figure out the process..

Symptoms: Multiple tick bites late last summer (one found embedded and dead), migraine like headaches, hip and shoulder popping/pain, fatigue, mood swings, episodes of severe anxiety. Symptoms started about 3 months ago.

We have had one round of blood work. Everything else on it came back normal. Lyme results read as follows:

Lyme disease AB IGG IGM. POSITIVE. NEGATIVE
B. BURGDORFERI IGG BANDS. p41kDa
Bands insufficient for positive result. Minimum of 5 bands required.

It's been 2 weeks since this result and his family doctor asked us to log symptoms. He is going back in 2 days for a second round of blood work. What do I need to know and ask?

Thanks, a concerned mom

Hi my3boys, welcome!

So, multiple tick bites, and subsequent multi-systemic symptoms 3-4 months later is lyme disease.
Testing should only be used as a back-up and you did get an indication with the Lyme disease AB IGG positive.
Also, band 41 while not lyme specific, indicates a spirochete was identified...which could be lyme.

Well, what you need to know is a regular Dr. won't likely diagnose your son with lyme disease. IF he does, he will treat him for too short of a time...and usually with too low a dose of abx.
...he will most likely ignore the coinfections.

I'm sorry to say this but we see it over and over again.

I suggest you find a LLMD and schedule an appt. for your son.

Hi and welcome to our forum,

The sooner your son receives proper needed treatment the better.

We can help you find an llmd here

or you can go to ilads.org/ilads_media/physician-referral/

you can email me and I will check our list for llmds in your area.

There are some pediatric specialists for Lyme and co infections. You can also email Girlie and she may be able to send you some names in that area of specialty.

To get recommendations for llmd's from members, you will need to enable your email in your profile. Then start a new post and put "seeking recommendations for a llmd in such and such area" in the topic box.

We encourage you to read our "New to Lyme" stat here thread at the top of the page. It has important and useful information on Lyme, testing, symptoms, detoxing and so much more.

I wish you and your family the best and feel free to reach out to us with any questions or support when needed.

take care, Jo

cry ugh. Thank you for the responses. I have requested a physician through that website, but as it says it will take a few days I will probably email Girlie to see if she can help sooner.

I've been trying to trust my mom gut and I know somethings not right....

My3boys - in addition to emailing me, you can also start a new thread: "looking for LLMD who takes Peds patients - in/near____" and fill in the blank with your location.

I am going offline now...for some exercising, and detoxing...but will check my emails later today.
