Hello everyone!
I have serious health problems from Bartonella for the last 2 years and now on (all symptoms very strong). I was just diagnosed by blood tests 2 weeks ago with 6 types of Bartonella.
The Dr qualified for lyme and coinfections said I have to take fluoroqinolone. I tried levofloxacin(stopped using) and then ciprofloxacin (everythin with strong side effect in brain - it even caused hearing problems. I do not tolerate fluoroqinolones and Rifampicin. Now Dr prescribed Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim). I got serious heartburn and chest pain. ( I think I also have to stop it. Or try to take it longer? Is asthma a big problem when taking bactrim?) I also had ceftriaxone last year for 30 days - it didn't help at all and I'm not able to withstand more than 30 days. My problem is so bad I don't have hope in natural medicine/herbs...

Does anyone have an idea what could be my remedy?! Please ! Any help!
I'm feeling worse day by day. I just don't want to die! (Becaouse I don't tolerate these antibiotics.)
(I'm 24 y old.)
Mike

Hi Mike, welcome!

I won't take the fluoroquinolones for bart - haven't tried...only as a last resort I may consider...

What happens when you take Rifampin?
And have you tried Rifabutin instead?

Bactrim has some action against bart...but in a lot of cases it's not enough (I know people who have healed bart without the fluoroquinolones or bactrim - but they had bart for months...not years)

Ceftin won't treat bart effectively...

You may need to try herbal protocols.

Heartburn and chest pain could be a herx from the bactrim...but it's best you check with your LLMD. Get your heart checked out if it continues.

Are you detoxing? daily?

Hi Girlie!
I had my heart checked today (heart echo scan) and it's fine (no serious problems).
The heart pain gets worse just day by day and it started to burn + chest pain raising after second dose of bactrim.
Is Rifampin a little bit safer to try than fluoroquinolones?
What to do to detox? (I don't know.) I can't tell what is herex or not. I have trembling/shakiness every day and heart pain is not getting lower on the other days. What herbal protocol is the best - I should try Buhner Is it worth to stay on Bactrim? (I have asthma.) I do 300mg doxy every day along for lyme and coinfections (bart) - that Dr said.
Thank you for replay!

Mike,

My pre teen son is suffering big time from Bart. He is dizzy, unsteady, weak, emotional, overall just plain ole suck! He can no longer tolerate abx. You should read up on Gallium Nitrate. I read its good to fight bart and Co but not for Lyme. It does not kill anything but makes the environment unsuitable for reproduction depriving it of iron. Microorganisms don't live long so they must reproduce rapidly. These microorganism tend to migrate to areas of weakness so some ppl apply this topically (diluted 1 to 2 tsp) to back of neck or chest for chest pains, legs arms etc. Many take it orally like (diluted 1 to 2 tsp) to start off very slowly. It doesn't harm good bacteria because good bacteria is not iron dependent.

Read about it. I recently read about someone who no longer Rife's for Bart after 3 weeks of Gallium Nitrate.

Good Luck my friend!

Mike12,

I'm so sorry you're having such awful symptoms. Are you being exposed to mold at home, at work, or any other place you spend a lot of time in? If you are, then you need to remove the mold from your environment or remove yourself from the moldy environment first. Mold exposure will make symptoms and immune dysfunction worse and will make treatment for Lyme and coinfections nearly impossible.

STEP 1: check on the possibility of mold exposure

You said you don't have faith in herbs and natural medicine, but you clearly have trouble tolerating antibiotics (mold can be a reason for that). I understand the scepticism about herbs and natural medicine. You might want to do some reading to understand more about your options and about Lyme and coinfections. If you haven't read these already, these books may be very useful to you:

Unlocking Lyme by Bill Rawls
Healing Lyme 2nd edition and also the bartonella book by Stephen Harrod Buhner

Yes, Rifampin is safer in that there aren't any FDA black box warnings like the fluoroquinolones.
I've had no issues at all taking Rifampin long-term...with a second antibiotic.

Detox suggestions:

- Drink plenty of water daily - add in some fresh squeezed lemon juice. (Good idea to rinse your mouth after as the lemon juice can damage your tooth enamel) Or - drink with a straw...that helps to bypass the teeth.

- take warm epsom salt baths

- Dry brush your skin prior to bathing or showering

- Take detox products: Nutramedix Pinella and Burbur OR Jernigan's Neuro Anti-tox II PNS/CNS

- Light exercise

- Take a binder - must be a couple of hours before and after anything that you don't want flushed out of your system (i.e. food, meds...etc)

- Take Alka Seltzer GOLD

I also have a pretty bad bartonella infection. I've been doing different herbs, and I've been whittling away at it slowly. It's taking a long time, though. I didn't tolerate antibiotics very well.

If you want to try herbals, A-Bart formula by Byron White seemed to me be very strong- but maybe it was just me. I had to stop taking it because it was just too strong. A lot of Buhner's herbs seem to be good-but it seemed like I had to try out each one and evaluate if it was helping or not.

Sorry to hear about your trials with Bart!

I have had great success with Buhner's protocol along with supporting supplements. I tested positive for Lyme last summer, went on Doxy, while most symptoms went away after 12 weeks of Doxy, the pain in my hands and feet only got worse. I tested positive for Bart in the late summer, antibiotics didn't seem to do a thing for me this time, so I started Buhner's herbs along with suggested supplements. After about a month my symptoms had decreased, my pain level was at about 50%, after two months I was pain and symptom free. Stayed on the herbs for another two symptom free months at which point, daft woman, I decided I must be cured. Within a month all symptoms were back, as bad, if not worse, than before. I put myself back on the protocol, after a couple of weeks of some pretty horrible herxing I can say I am in a much better space. I'm about a month in and feel as if my GI issues are under control and my pain levels are at about 50%. I know everything does not work for everyone - but Buhner's protocol has really worked for me - I'll stay on it a good bit longer this time though. I was in a pretty desperate place when I first tried it - but so happy I did.

Good luck!

Thank you all for the wishes!
I’m trying Rifampicine for the first time
I won’t be back here in the next two weeks. ( as the first week is the hardest on Rif)
That’s all for now. Out for now.

If I won’t be back ever here, you will know that it didn’t work. smilewinkgrin

I had no herex ever in my life. No herex on doxy for last two months of new start on abx.
I feel nothing on 300 and now 600 rifampin a day.(Just a worse guts fluctuation.)
Despite that, my heart pain gone by 90% on rifampin. I don’t feel it’s working in my head. I think that fog is just getting worse by bart and lyme.
I also got minocyclin instead of doxy.

Is Plaquenill working only on Borelia?!
(I’ve just harmed my ears by Levox and have problems with seeing on long distance, even worse having lyme and bartonella.)

Is it possible to go with tinidazole (over Plaquenil) with Rifampin and minocycline?

Many LLMD's don't prescribe plaquenil when treating lyme and co's.

I've been on Rifampin plus minocycline and pulsed tinidazole a couple days a week.

So it’s safe to combine rif + mino + tini? Do you have good memories from tinidazole?

I didn't really notice the tinidazole.

I think I took it when I was pulsing the Rif and mino.

I’m trying to detox.
I add lemon to black tea(as It’s the basic thing I drink). + pomegrante juice once a day
I take milk thistle and cordyceps sinensis, some strong hepa medicine to shield liver. I bought some herbal liqours that are mentioned in Buhner’s protocols, but don’t want to start them now when on abx as they contain high alcohol.
20 drops of grapefruit seed extract is on.
I’m not able to get alka-seltzer gold version in my country, only the aspirin one that I cant’t take when I have asthma and CU.
Taste of chlorella would be a problem.(I know I hate nori.)
I also want to switch to Jarrow Ultra probiotics than taking many pills of 3 different ones.
Will try to think of that bath salt later. I’ve read good opinions on active carbon - will see if my sensitive guts will tolerate that.
