Before anyone calls me an anti-vaxxer, this is from the CDC website:

Some pretty weird stuff in our vaccines. Just an FYI. Come to your own conclusions as to why we need African Green Monkey kidney cells in our smallpox vaccine. What does this do to us on a cellular level?

I posted some stuff about vaccines here:

I'll cut-and-paste:

Ingredients in Vaccines

The following quotes came from a (much longer) weekly newsletter I received several weeks ago, regarding flu shots:

The risk of getting the flu is very low, and the efficacy of the vaccine is low, yet people are instructed to have a vaccine that contains ingredients like monosodium glutamate, hydrolyzed porcine gelatin, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, formaldehyde, and Madin Darby Canine Kidney cell protein; and can cause side effects that include Guillain-Barre syndrome, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, transverse myelitis, shingles (herpes zoster), neuropathic demyelination, seizures, neuropathy, brachial plexopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, optic neuritis, and Bell's palsy.(3)

I don't know for sure, but my initial guess would be that those cells are culture remnants since viruses can't be propagated in pure culture and require human or animal cell lines
