Hello,
Does anyone drink coffee? I am strict on my diet, but had 4 sips of coffee (for the first time in five years). Is a small amount each day ok? I am super exhausted.
Tried abx and iv abx for 2 yrs, now trying herbs; Chronic Tonic (bottled) CSA formula, JK, Houttunia, Andrographis, Cats Claw, Oil of Oregano

I drink 2 to 3 cups a day. I don't have any issues that I know of with it. Actually if on the ketogenic diet it can be drank in the AM with coconut oil added in and cream.

When I had lyme I continued my coffee intake just as if nothing changed. I had no problem. I only drink 1 cup a day and it is a small cup.

I love coffee but sadly had to give it up 25 years ago when I was first infected. For a long time I was too sick to miss it but when I went into remission my nervous system still just couldn’t handle it. On a rare occasion I would have a latte since espresso has less caffeine and full fat milk or cream helps to offset some of the effects of caffeine but I can’t handle it all the time.

Enjoy it if you can handle it. I’m happy for those who can.

I can't imagine giving up coffee altogether. I still have 1-2 cups in the morning but I can't take it later in the day. I have recently started enjoying a dandelion coffee (Dandy Blend) which is surprisingly good and allows me to enjoy a cup in the afternoon and help my liver to boot. smile

I don't drink coffee - I've never liked the taste of it.

I think I'd be pretty hyper on it if I did drink it.

The difference is per individual and how true to health they wish to be in their healing journey.

If one was to be very accurate in removing all "inflammatories", coffee would be on that list.

If one is trying to heal their gut for optimal immune function or has/had GERD, coffee would not be helping it.

Coffee (caffeine) has negative effects on adrenal health.

Many here have anxiety and or tremors, no one needs to tell them that coffee would make this worse.

I drank no coffee for about one year, now just very small quantities of low acid coffee as I'm weaning of my freezing winter morning coffee intake.

Thanks all! I'll be careful. The taste of my sip of coffee brought back so many memories that i started crying. I'm a big sissy.

Morning Serfr and everyone else,

I never gave up coffee (before, during, and after being healed from lyme). It never caused me any problems and it's one of my simple pleasures in life. I drink 2 cups in the morning and that's it. If I want something hot later in the day I drink herbal tea.

I do use organic coffee for another purpose but I don't want to post about that now rolleyes

I think everyone reacts different to caffeine as well as other beverages. I have tried a product called Teeccino (I like the Hazelnut flavor) and it has no caffeine:

Cheers!
Denise
12 years well ~ used Dr. Jernigan's protocol from his book about Biological Medicine (used Borrelogen, Microbojen and Neuro-Antitox).

I still detox even though healed and drink Green Vibrance. I come back to help others for others helped me when I was sick. Pay it forward! smile

I used to be a two latte a day girl and now I'm down to one. During the herxy days on the Byron White herbs, coffee would make me REALLY shaky. You just gotta play it by ear and see how you feel. Don't over do it. Coffee also doesn't help your adrenals, but it's not the end of the world.

Hey Serfr,
I drink about one cup of strong coffee (usually from instant mix) a day. I mix it with antidepressants which I take a low dose of; as my depression anxiety is treatment resistant, I augment with ~32mg Bupropion (generic wellbutrin) and 5mg Trintellix (Vortioxetine). This doesn't help insomnia but it helps me to get work done. I feel this is an artificial fix of symptoms and doesn't get at the infection(s) but it brightens my mood and energy enough to get a few things done. I also augment further with nootropics supplements (racetams: aniracetam, sunifiram, phenylpiracetam and another supp. call tianeptine sodium) which helps with pain, clears my mind somewhat, and stabilizes my mood. I also have to make sure to have L-Theanine, Taurine, Magnesium citrate on hand to not get the jitters...as much. But...I'll say this I would probably feel better without it, as it goes with the inflammatory sugar and alcohol, my gut and nerves tremble and vibrate with anxiety anyway until it wears off. That said, Burrascano says to absolutely avoid these as they are inflammatory (sugar, alcohol, caffeine) and I can see why, but I'm weak sometimes.

I drink coffee and had planned to give it up but as a headache/migraine sufferer I decided not to as I don't want to induce any caffeine withdrawal migraines. I only drink one small cup a day though.

37 years ago, at age 38, on christmas eve, i was not feeling good. The economy was really down, bank was trying to foreclose our house, but it was christmas time to celebrate. Told dear wife i was not feeling well and she said to go drive myself to the local hospital to get myself checked out. I did so and within a minute of checking me out, the doctors told me to lie down and not move. They immediately moved me to intensive care and began hooking up all their heart monitoring equipment to me. They gave me a big dose of valium. I saw my heart beats on their machine and my pulse was less than 30. The heart beats that were there were intermittent and when that heart did beat, it was with a system shattering strong beat. My heart was struggling to survive in my body. That heart attack never came. I spent a week in intensive care. I then spent 2 full weeks still in the hospital recovering from whatever i had. Whatever drugs they gave me cleared up that arythmia. They said to take these capsules for another 6 months and i should be ok. I asked: "What did i have and what caused what i had? They said that they had no idea what brought on this crisis. Up to the time of this almost heart attack i was a 3 cup a day of coffee man. I thought about things and since that day upon leaving the hospital i have never had a coffee again. When in social conditions a cup of coffee is put in front of me i am grateful but i let it go cold to be later thrown out. That arythmia that i had has been evident in a very small way a few times since then when my stress level is very high. I have learned that i cannot allow stress to accumulate. I have not sensed that arythmia now for 10 years or so. And i do not miss that coffee. I watch dear wife drink hers every day about 3 times a day. I prefer drinks like lemon water, butter milk, apple juice, the odd tea, a glass of regular milk, or just plain water. I think it is a matter of taste but for me i feel it is a matter of survival. I never want to expose myself to the threat of coffee again maybe ruining my life. xfmlg
