I probably should of posted this awhiel ago but is anyone else taking his protocol for bartonella? And if you are, what has been your experience in herxing , success, ect. Just what is/was your experience with it or I feel as though I can beat it with his core protocol and I only have this one infection otherwise I'm healthy. Thanks kyle b

I've been doing Buhner's bartonella protocol with additional herbs for Lyme, babesia and chlamydia pneumonia for over 10 months now. I take tiny doses of most of the antimicrobials and I still herx most of the time with a few days here and there when I feel better.

How much of each herb are you taking? I'm taking full doses and have been on for three days and my herxes are some anxiety and a little paranoid but not like normal paranoia if that makes any sense. Are his protocols the only treatments your doing? I do believe in the nature has an answer for us and that his protocol is worth the crap. Thanks
Also, there's no way to tell cause everything is so individual but do you think my dosages are adequate for a 5'10 170 lbs man?
Jap knotweed 50 drops
Csa 60 drops
Hawthorne 50 drops
Isa 75 drops
Chinese skullcap 50 drops
All three x each day

I"ve been doing Buhner's protocols for all three (bartonella, babesia and borellia)- I reached the full protocol for Babesia and Bartonella (minus a few things) in November. It's hard to say which herbs cause it but I believe crypto from the babesia causes the most herxing for me which is mostly just terrible fatigue. I've had other symptoms crop up but I consider that just the progression of things. Things definitely got worse for a while before they got a whole lot better.

Most of my definite bartonella symptoms are resolved now but I'm still dealing with insomnia which could be related to any of the three or something in my protocol which I'm currently tweaking - sigh. Otherwise the bone pain, muscle burning and aspiration issues are gone for me so I do feel like it's working.

I'm generally taking the maximum doses that Buhner lists for everything as I was not particularly sensitive and ramping up was easy for me aside from occasional bouts of fatigue.

One thing that's not on Buhner's list that I did add is Black Cumin Seed oil. Not sure if that's part of what's helped but I'm sticking with it for now, 1 tsp a day.

Good luck!

The doses look to be in the right range. Buhner often states that the actual dose can be quite personal so you need to follow your instinct as to whether you need to change things. Looking over his recommended protocol I noticed that you also omitted milk thistle - since bartonella can hide out in the liver as well as the spleen you might consider adding that one as well.

There's some debate around using l-arginine. I haven't used it myself but Buhner considers it quite important. You'll have to read up around it to decide if it's worth trying for you or not.

Okay I am taking milk thistle in capsule form and not powdered. Do you mind sharing your protocol and dosaging?

Pretty much everything from Buhner at mostly max dosage minus the EGCG and arginine and vitamin E.

I'd definitely recommend getting a copy of his Bartonella book if you don't already have it as his description of exactly what bartonella is up to is quite interesting and makes it easier to understand symptoms. I find myself repeatedly going back to read things over and noticing things I've missed. There are lots of ideas you can take from it for other herbs you can use depending on how you feel things are going for you.

Hey thanks. I'm thinking of lowering my doses a little because the one oz bottles from woodland essence run out so quick. I'm now gonna do csa, Hawthorne, Japanese knotweed at 25 drops. The iha and Chinese skullcap at 50. Would this still be enough to hit in your opinion basing it on the effects of the dosages? I plan on increasing it back to normal once I have enofuh to buy the 2 oz bottles. Thanks

I really couldn't say as I only have my own experience to go on and it's incomplete at the moment. smile

I think dosing and the herbs that are going to be the most effective for each person is going to depend on so many different factors that even individually it would be hard to look back and say what was required and what wasn't. It really helps to understand the reason behind each herb and then compare that to your symptoms to decide if you need to make changes. I know a lot of people make regular changes to their protocols and a lot of people just pick an approach and stick with it. It's mostly based on intuition and reading as far as I can tell. I wish I could say something more precise but I can't.

FWIW if you haven't already, it's really useful to keep a symptom journal of some sort to track symptoms, and any major changes to your protocol or other habits so you can see any trends looking back.

Just wanted to mention that you can even take more than the recommended doses. If you're on the full dose and aren't making progress..or have plateaued, you can raise the dose.

There was a member who was having appointments with one of buhner's recommended herbalists...and he said it's ideal if you can even add in another dose - so taking the herbs 4 X daily.

Kyle,

I wouldn't do CSA and IHA at the same time as you'll be getting alchornea in both formulas. CSA is for babesia. I thought you believed you only have bartonella. The IHA formula is far bartonella.

You can buy the Sida as an individual herb and add it in to the IHA. It's part of the protocol.

Hey walkingbyfaith, I know the csa formula is for Babs but woodland essence was out of the sida acuta so I went with csa. Is it ok if I got double dose of alchornea? Also, are my new dosages the recommended amount buhner's recommends? Can you have a look at my 12:27 reply I made about the dosages
