I have gotten much better since my tick bite (through herbals not abx) so that now when I herx I can really tell even though it is much more subtle than before, usually just feeling sleepy, itchy skin, and mild muscle pain. Before when I would herx it was hard to tell if it was a worsening of symptoms or an actual herx.

Here are some things that I believe have caused me to herx. I'm not advising anyone to try these things for medicinal purposes but rather I'm just sharing some interesting observations that I have made. Most of these are not necessarily good for you but hey nobody's perfect.

Bahn mi-a spicy Vietnames sandwich that has jalapeƱos (or some such pepper) and pickled vegetables. Could be the spice or the vinegar in the pickles but it was pretty unmistakable and surprisingly intense.

cigarette-I don't smoke very often but I've noticed that I get a very short low intensity herx from a smoke. Strange but true. My guess that if it's bad for a human it's probably bad for bacteria too. It seems like there is a research paper on pubmed (maybe) about nicotine killing bacteria, not sure.

coffee-I don't drink coffee often but if I have a stout cup or two I definitely feel a low grade herx. I looked it up on pubmed and yes indeed coffee does have some antibacterial properties, probably from the oils that are in the beans.

liquor- this only lasts for the initial 15 or 20 minutes before the buzz kicks in but I definitely feel it. The thing is, once the alcohol takes effect it seems to numb any herx feeling you would have anyway but I can tell before it kicks in. Plus, I usually feel better the next day as long as I don't overdo it.

thc- this is the most definitive one of all, so much so that I had to quit for several months due to the headaches and anxiety. At first I thought it just made me worse but then I realized that once I got better (just recently) I could enjoy it once again without the intense anxiety and headaches. Also, if you look it up you will see that the oil has antimicrobial qualities and passes through the blood brain barrier easily. Although, the oil is supposed to be much more potent.

Again, I'm not advocating any of this (except the bahn mi, you should try one) for anyone or for any purpose.

maybe you have a leaky gut and its going straight into the bloodstream? one lady uses tobacco to lure the ketes out ...lack of o2 , endorphins from Capsaicin , caffiene and excretion of yeast(alcohol)

not meaning any insult but ...i dont know if every insult to your constitution is a herx? but try bvt and some rick simpson oil or some rocephin im shots or a strong andrographis decoction if you want to compare herxes ....

Not trying to argue but don't all of those things go into your bloodstream anyway without having a leaky gut? Plus, I've been partaking of these things for many years and have only had these reaction since being infected in Sept of 2017. I've never had anywhere near those kind of reactions to these substances and I'm 43 years old. I've had some pretty intense herxes to compare on the herbals treatments alone.

Elvin, what have you found out which herbals make the most strongest herxes when you take them? I tried to do a drastic increase in some vitamin levels a few weeks ago and what i experienced must have been a herx. My headpaines went away, instead i had this brutal anxiety, felt like I was breathing threw a straw. big fear of everything and a weird physical pain in the chest. It lasted a few days. Now I feel somewhat better, just fatigue is still around, but no ache, almost no headpain. or anxiety.
Is that kind of similar to a herx session for you?

I was thinking to get a list of herbs that does most herxing to the body, or try and find out which vitamin was triggering my herx...

Yes, that is similar to what I experienced although no chest pain and it didn't last more than a day. I also herxed a few times on large doses of vitamin C but this seems pretty common so I didn't mention it. Monolaurin is what I have used to lower my symptoms (which made me herd on and off for about 6 weeks) along with rotating use of oregano oil, olive leaf, colloidal silver, and apple cider vinegar. I'm going to try cinnamon as well but honestly my symptoms seem to be going away slowly but surely. I think it's mainly the monolaurin but I'm not sure.

Sorry, moose safari, I just re read your question. I would say the biggest herx was from chewing up a few monolaurin pellets (supposedly puts it in your blood stream quicker) while I was very sick. My herxes are much more mild if I just swallow the pellets.

Next I would say oregano but I don't do the tincture like most people do so it wasn't too intense. Olive leaf was more mild so you might start there. I wouldn't shoot for a huge herx but go in a gradual way increasing intensity as you progress. Herx can damage your body from what I understand. Low and slow seems to be the motto for most. It has taken me 3 months to get to this point and I'm not 100% yet.

Many thanks, very valuable information for me. Yes could have been the vitamin C that caused the reaction, i have read that has happened to other people on internet.
My next step would be colodial silver and see if it works anything. there are some stories to read how silver fixed lyme totally for some persons, so I am having a hope here.

I am going rather slowly though, I have a list of things I am trying and been ticking off for almost 2 years now.

Glad to hear you are feeling much greater, me too really(although I would have said the opposite 2 weeks ago when herxing..)

Ah, could very well be B6. I am blending vitamins with mixer into a vegetable smoothie. Would vitamin B6 be able to cause herx?
This is the amount I took in the smoothie.
Vita C 500% DRI,
Vita B6, 200%,
Folic acid 250%

I would be surprised if the vitamin C was the cause, I am rather used to high C intake.

Other Ingredients I was suspecting was Kelp, Vitamin B12 or magnesium. I will eliminate B6 then in the next smoothie and see if I get a reaction or not..
