I tested positive for Lyme, Mycoplasma, Yersinia, Chlamydia Pneumonia and suspected babesia in 2016

I did four months antibiotics early 2017 which practically worked miracles on my symptoms. Went from homebound to back working 30 hours week light gym sessions. I stopped antibiotics early due to financial reasons so after 4 months I stopped cold turkey. Stupid I know, should have slowly come off them and added herbs. I relapsed badly 2 months later and got so sick practically homebound. Lost so much weight.

6 months of doing nothing relationship breakdown and now absolutely chronically sick the weight loss is unreal. I am sensitive to everything now and dont know what to do.

Should I go back on antibiotics as I have money to buy again or should I go on herbs. Part of me thinks since im so sick antibiotics will get me some what better quicker but I know bacteria load will be high so im scared of herx and making things worse. Herbs is an option bunher herbs for example. Ive read the book so have an understanding of which ones to take and can start low.

I know nobody can answer my question but some advice on what you recommend as best option. Cant believe this time last year I was working and exercising on antibiotics and now im so chronically sick lost job house wife its so tough.

Any advice is appreciated

your story is similar to mine....may have been rebit, but most likely relapsed...had a good 4 months, and now im struggling to keep my job, i have missed so much work...i have an excellent llmd, who although expensive is one of the best on the east coast....but he only uses abx...i also have a naturopath, who is pretty looopy....part of me thinks abx is better, but the herxes can be killer, in my case at least...if i herx hard i cant work, which will lead to no job, no insurance, and no more abx....im opting (for now, it changes weekly it seems) to go the herbal route....samento, crypto, sida,jk and houttunia...my rationale is i can go my own speed, and hopefully keep herxes manageable...

BUT if that doesnt work im goin back to abx i guess...its just that we know you cant CURE these crappy diseaseS (plural), but long term abx will throw off microbiome, increase candida etc...so basically i dont think the buhner herbs do me any harm, and therefore im going that way currently.,...

sorry for a lack of advice, haha...you got to do whats best for you...i was suprised however, that after 5 months of abx, i herxed on my first week of herbs...

Im happy to do antibiotics but my concern is i havent treated in nearly a year and now that im so sick im concerned antibiotics herx will be dangerous since bacterial load high. But im so sick i need relief i feel antibiotics would be better than herbs. So confusing when in chronic pain, skinny, malnourished, fatigue etc

Hope the herbs work for you and you can keep working and funding treatment

I'm not a doctor, but I would think you are going to have to treat longer this time.

I think herbs can be less expensive, especially if you make your own tinctures. But, insurance will generally pick up your prescription costs.

This is one of those where you get a sheet of paper and write out the pros and cons and see what is best for you, your pocket book and your mental health.

Good luck whatever you choose.

Cost inst an issue now thankfully - I was hoping for advice on what is the recommended option when one hasnt treated for so long and now 100% worse. Is it safe to take either obviously just be sensible keeping doses low or would it be best to take herbs? Hopefully that makes sense. I obviosuly have mutliple high bacterial coinfections having not treated in very long time

I think you can treat with abx -- just start slowly, detox a lot, and back off if you need to. I treated with abx while at crisis-level sick and was able to manage the herxing once I learned about detoxing. I'm on an aggressive protocol but I don't take everything when I feel that it will be too much to handle. (Not recommending that -- best if your llmd will develop a good protocol for and with you.) I'm glad you're going to start again. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Sorry about your recurse, hope it will recurse to the better again. I am also struggling heavily with weight loss and come across different remedies that helped others with lyme. Did you check your sodium levels? A few ill people with lots of weight loss got their weight back when increasing salt or sodium some levels.

david,

Since you're not sure how bad you might herx on the abx (and that is a very legitimate concern), I would recommend started a few herbs at very low doses and very slowly work up. With herbs, you control how much, how often, and can take breaks whenever needed. Once you see how you respond, you'll have a better idea of how bad you'll herx on abx.

Lots of good advice here. The two pieces that got me the most better the quickest was treating dental and parasites. Everything else had been a marathon-worth running but slow.

Thanks all.

Ive got some buhner herbs here so I will start very low dose. Will start with CSA for couple weeks then add the buhner core protocol i think.

I already drink goats milk but i do need to improve me diet alot to get inflammation down. Im not clued up on rife and how well this could help plus i think would cost alot.

Magoo what did you do to treat dental issues? I have severe gum and tissue loss from lyme. My oral health is perfect bu my gum and bone loss is so bad.

The abx vs herbals vs combination is really quite a personal decision.

We did not personally see positive results from abx, so we switched to herbals and other things. I have serious issues with the use of abx, but I'm not against them at all -- just feel they have their time and place (which is very debatable of such).

However, since you had such a positive reaction to abx previously, that would make me more inclined to try abx again personally. If you react as negatively as you fear, you can always switch to herbals.
If you try herbals first and aren't making progress like you did with abx previously, then you can switch to abx.

Unfortunately, there isn't an easy answer. Vast majority of what we did was definitely trial and error - for sure!

I also wanted to say how sorry I am that you lost your job, your house, and your wife. Those are three big (HUGE) stressors. I am truly so sorry for your losses. Truly heartbreaking! {{{HUGS}}}
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.

I would say to try antibiotics, if you do seem to have a positive reaction to them. I wish that I herxed more on antibiotics, but I could tell they weren't killing off anything.
