Hi Deejavu,

So it's been several days since I started the Borrelogen and Neuro Antitox regimen. I started right in on the full doses recommended on the bottles. I'm also doing all of my vitamins/minerals/probiotics prescribed by my naturopath, and I stayed on the Eleuthro, Kudzu, Olive Leaf (for very high viral load), and Cat's Claw/Japanese Knotweed that have always seemed to help me.

It's been up and down to some extent--but my mood is primarily VERY much improved--no suicidal thoughts, no gut-wrenching anxiety.

My main complaint is that today is the second time since starting the regimen that I have experienced EXTREME sleepiness. This is despite sleeping fairly well the night before. I'm not talking normal sleepiness. This is sleepiness that I've only felt twice before in my life (and I'm 53 now).

Once, probably a year or so after being infected, when I was in my early twenties, I got a summer job and I remember that I spent my lunch breaks with my head down on the table sleeping. Looking back, though I didn't know it then, I'm sure I was dealing with the effects of the diseases I'd picked up from a tick bite that was mistaken by the medical community as an infected spider bite.

Second time was when I was pregnant with my daughter 15 years ago. I couldn't make it through the day without a nap, and I'm really NOT a napper. I didn't experience this with my son (who is now 18), but for some reason my pregnancy with my daughter was different.

This sleepiness feels the same as those two times. Does anyone have any insight into what could be causing this? Is it a good sign or a bad sign? Any ideas re how to combat it? I MUCH prefer it over the depression and anxiety, but I need to get stuff done--and keep up with two jobs, two kids, a house and pets!

I don't know what would cause the sleepiness. That's great that it significantly helped your mood. Where did you go to order the Jernigan products?

I ordered it from this site:

Probably sick for more than 20 years. Crashed in Aug. of 2013. Completing 12 months of treatment as of Aug. 2014, and feeling much better! Have taken a wide variety of antibiotics, antiparasitics and herbals for blood-diagnosed Babesia, Erlichia and Anaplasma, and suspected Bart and Lyme.

Bitten by two ticks in March of 2016, which seems to have set off a new infection.

Hi notquitesoscared13,

I don't know either what is causing you to be sleepy. I could play the guessing game which I really don't like to do but it here goes: it could be that the Borrelogen is targeting the lyme bacteria (including co-infections), and the Neuro-Antitox is targeting the ammonia in your brain and body so lots of things are happening which is good news...

My only other thought is have you gone through menopause yet?

You are responding so well already, I would just try to ride this out...

12 years well ~ used Dr. Jernigan's protocol from his book about Biological Medicine (used Borrelogen, Microbojen and Neuro-Antitox).

I still detox even though healed and drink Green Vibrance. I come back to help others for others helped me when I was sick. Pay it forward! smile

Yep, already through menopause. Don't worry--I fully intend to ride it out! smile Being sleepy once every 3 days or so is SOOOOOO much better than random crying, crippling, anxiety and suicidal depression!!

I like your theory. The other two times in my life I felt this intense sleepiness, my body was working VERY hard at something--fighting off relatively newly-acquired infectious diseases, and creating another human life. smile Maybe this IS just a sign that my body is working very, very hard right now--because the remedies are having their intended effect.

Just wanted to check as I remember when I went through menopause.

Yes, the remedies are doing their job! I felt very different after taking Borrelogen and the Neuro-Antitox and in a good way!

Hang in there, it only gets better!

Feel more awake again this morning. Slept the same as previous night. Very strange. No rhyme or reason--unless one of the diseases cycles every 3-4 days, and more critters being killed off those days?

I think being sleepy is a good sign that your body is healing. Usually when a treatment is working for me, I get sleepy also.

I hope you're right, Nottime4lyme. Unfortunately, anxiety and hopelessness made an appearance again this afternoon. But part of it might have been situational--I've got a LOT of stressors in my life right now--A LOT! Psych symptoms have lessened a bit at this point, though. So that's a good thing...

Morning notquitesoscared13,

When a person feels sleepy it's the body's way of letting that person know that sleep is important in order to heal. I know in your case with working 2 jobs, having 2 kids, running a house, etc. that you can't get the sleep your body is telling you to get. It's a shame that you have to work 2 jobs, I wish you had more options.

That said, I am sure it was stress that caused me to get sick in the first place. I grew up on Long Island and was always outside with all those vectors that carry lyme bacteria and never got sick (ticks, fleas, spiders, black flies, etc.). When I did get sick I had way too much stress in my life which I thought I could handle. I had to make choices to rid myself of many of the stressors which I did as scary and uncomfortable as that was.

I wish there was a way for you to lower your stressors. I am guessing that it's NOT an option for your ex to help out in any way?

The good news is that your psych symptoms have gotten better!

Hang in there and take 1 day at a time (or even 1 hour at a time) okay? This too shall pass...

Have you noticed whether the fatigue and your emotions are correlated with sun exposure or exercise? Do you get red/dry eyes or itchy skin with the fatigue?

Also, have you treated possible adrenal fatigue?
