I now have some consults setup with a few doctors, but I am completely in the dark regarding what makes a good choice since Lyme is 100% new to me.. What are some questions I should be asking to screen these people? Criteria like being close to home and in-networkwith my insurance is definitely great, but absolutely not going to be the deciding factor.
Thank you for the input

Hi Squarsh,

You could ask if they treat with just abx, or do they also use herbals/supplemets.

Make sure they treat with more than one ABX.

What is their treatment plan going forward

Do they check for candida, mold issues, fungal etc.

What detoxing, probiotics and liver support do they suggest you use while you are on antibiotics.

How do they understand herxing and is there phone support on off hours if you need to call them with any questions.

How to they diagnosis and treat co infections, do they understand about the different infections.

Thats all I can think off right now, Take care others will be along to chime in

Maybe ask how long they've been treating lyme patients.

How often are the appointments? And what is the cost.

I think there's a post in the "New to Lyme..." thread on some suggestions on what to ask the LLMD.

Thank you goshawk for the reply, those are great.
Girlie how often are the appointments and what’s the cost is top of my list! I did not notice anything in the new to Lyme section but I definitely could have overlooked it. Will try reading again.

Also get a feel for how willing they are to work with you too, or at least answer your questions with out attitude. Keep their time limits in mind though.
Had initial lyme symptoms late 80's, then again and with bullseye early 90's. Ended ABX for Lyme in Jan 2016. Rebuilding / fine tuning / fixing muscles since then; member "10 Percenters Lyme Club". What an adventure this has been. Hashimotos adds to the enjoyment.

I think you want a docs with all of the tools.
ABX-herbal protocols-oxygen protocol-parasites protocols and dental.
Hard to find one person with all of this. The dental can be the strongest piece-just find a biological dds and get checked. Strange but dental and parasite treatment are the low hanging fruit with a major influence on your health and the hardest to find experts in.
