I feel pretty darn good until I go to actually exert myself, then I get worn out quickly and just can't function long. I only have the diagnosis of Lyme and I don't have a Dr that will even look at the other stuff. My Dr refers me back to the ID Dr that said that I was healed because I had 3 weeks of antibiotics and that any further problems was caused by the damage that Lyme had already done to my body and not a current issue. rolleyes

My symptoms are fairly mild, except the heart flutter and nausea, but I have,

Heart flutter: this is why I think babesia... I took wormwood on a whim and it nearly stopped my flutter. I forgot why I was taking it and stopped and the flutter came back with a vengeance. I'm now back on wormwood and my heart only flutters a couple of times a day now. Does wormwood help heart problems caused by other co-infections?

Nausea: I'll have a month of nausea and then feel better for a week or two but I'm in a downswing so my diet is so restricted right now that it's crazy... I can pretty much tolerate meat, potatoes, and fruit... Veggies make me so sick. I miss my veggies!!! Eventually it disappears and I wake up one morning and can eat my veggies again. I crave breads and processed foods but try to resist.

Headaches: not often but when I have them it's like three days of consistent pain.

Night sweats: again sporadically

Brain fog: sporadically at this point... I'll be doing good and then all of a sudden I have it again and start losing my words.

Hard time focussing when driving: Probably goes along with brain fog... But I just have a hard time focussing... I kind of feel like I'm in lala land when I'm driving. (The only other time I get this is when I'm trying to focus to write on the computer, like this. I don't get it when I write on paper... But I probably don't put as much effort into that either so...) I can focus to read, focus to cook, etc. but when I'm driving I feel loopy. (Obviously I only drive when ABSOLUTELY necessary because of this.)

Shortness of breath: this is MUCH better after being on Jernigan's Anti-tox Cardio. Before starting Anti-tox I couldn't walk from my couch to the bedroom and back without needing to take 30 mins to catch my breath. ~Immediately~ after starting Anti-tox I felt 90% better. But I still get out of breath pretty easily and can't seem to build my body up from it.

No umph: I'm just tired all the time. I don't have to take 4 hour naps, or naps at all, anymore but I just don't have a lot of energy and can't do anything for long.

Balance: Mostly a problem when I've overdone it... If I've used all my umph and pushed through I start staggering around like I'm drunk.

Anyways... Any thoughts? Ideas? Does that sound like babesia? Or should I be looking somewhere else? I've only been on Traveler's CT for a bit over a week now so I'm not necessarily looking to start immediately but I'm trying to get information now so that I can figure out my next move. (See, right there it took me a minute to remember the word "move". idea rolleyes ) The heart flutter in particular really freaks me out... The wormwood is helping the symptom but I don't feel like it's doing enough to actually kill whatever... So I need a plan! I'm thinking to start CSA if it does sound like Babesia... Anyways... Any input appreciated! TIA!

Hawthorn is an excellent herb for the heart.

Definitely sounds like babesia to me. I have the exact same problem when I drive. I don't know if it's related to babesia or what.

All of my babesia symptoms got better on artemesia annua and mimosa pudica, so if you want to go the herbal route they might be ones to try.

Hmmm.

After reading all your symptoms, I wonder if maybe I do have babesia. I've had all those symptoms at some point since my symptoms started in 2009, but I haven't had much of those except brief nausea in the past year or so. I associate most of my stuff with bart.

I do take sida acuta and bidens that work on babesia. My doctor wants me to take mimosa pudica. I have never tried artemisia or cryptolepis, but I probably will at some point.

Thanks! I'm taking 500 mg of artemisia annua twice a day. That has definitely helped with my heart flutter but I didn't notice a difference in the rest of my symptoms...

I was about to start mimosa pudica as I'm coming towards the end of a parasite cleanse. I didn't even think of that helping with the babesia but it makes sense.

I'm reading Buhner's Lyme Coinfections book and trying to figure out what all I want to do next. My husband wants me to throw a grenade at it... do EVERYTHING that Buhner suggests for babesia... I don't know about that! But I do want to do start hitting it. I feel like I'm getting closer to recovery but just treating Lyme isn't going to get me there...

most folks who are chronically ill and can't make good progress have a co-infection in the way typically Babesia but for some Bart.

It definitely sounds like babesia although I keep coming across debate about the overlapping symptoms of babesia and bartonella. At first I thought everything I had was bartonella but then I took crypto and developed strong babesia symptoms (chest pressure, air hunger, and extreme fatigue). I’ve never known which one my nausea belongs to. When I finally thought I’d give up on bartonella I developed a brief bart rash so I’m sticking with treating both.

Once you add the CSA you’ll know if it’s the right track or not I think.

Yeah, those darn overlapping symptoms makes it hard to figure out for sure! The main reason that I was thinking babs was because the wormwood made such a difference with my heart issues. I don't think wormwood does anything for bart, does it?

Not that I know of. It’s great that testing with herbs / abx gives a pretty good indication since testing is so expensive and unreliable. smile

Your post definitely makes me reconsider which of the two is my main issue.
