Hi Everyone - so glad to have found this forum!

Little background: about 2 years ago my husband starting having health problems and the first one was massive weight loss, then his blood sugar was high so they attributed it to Diabetes and started him on all kinds of medications that made him feel even worse.

Next came the neuropathy - over the course of about 3 months he went from normal feet to burning pain and now at this point his feet are totally numb up to about mid-calf.

He has also had major night sweats, feeling unwell, dizzy spells with vomiting and severe fatigue. He got a new primary care doctor who did a lot more testing and determined that he was not diabetic and also diagnosed him with Lyme Disease last week.

Also about 2 weeks ago he developed a swollen toe which was determined to be a bone infection and may need to be amputated!

So he is on two IV antibiotics for his bone infection....Invanz and Cubicin.

So I had a few questions.....I am researching some doctors in our area to see who can help him but I know it might be a bit until he can get into see one. Especially with trying to deal with the bone infection.

1. What can he do right now that would be helpful while we wait for an appt with an LLMD
2. Can Lyme Disease cause severe neuropathy like he has?
3. What about bone infections....think there is any link between the Lyme and the Bone Infection?
4. His blood work was negative on IGM but he tested positive on the IGG bands: 23, 28, 41, 58, 66 and 93. I have read some stuff on the different bands and am a little confused. Would these results for sure mean Lyme?

Sorry this is so long and I appreciate any advice!

1. Herbs, supplements, detox, clean diet (eliminate inflammatory foods) and lots of water.
2. Yes. So can bartonella.
3. Bartonella is associated with bone pain.
4. Sounds like positive for Lyme to me.

Welcome! There's lots of information on detoxing and other things at the top of the page under New to Lyme.

Ask all the questions you need.

Take good care of himself and Detox - start with a few methods and every few days add in another: some ideas:

- drink lots of water daily
- warm Epsom salt baths
- dry brush skin prior to bathing/showering
- eat healthy
- get plenty of rest
- light exercise if able - even a short walk to get things moving.
- squeeze some lemon juice into one of his glasses of water and sip on it (to help alkalize his system)

- Take probiotics daily

AND plenty of hugs and reassurance from his wife... he’s very fortunate to have your support!!

2. Can Lyme Disease cause severe neuropathy like he has?

Yes - Lyme and/or coinfections

3. What about bone infections....think there is any link between the Lyme and the Bone Infection?

Could be. Even indirectly - the Lyme and co’s suppress our immune system giving opportunist infections a chance to take hold.

Yes - Lyme specific bands 23 and 93
