Hello,

After about 5 months of being ill with a flu-like illness I came down with back in December while I was in Korea which led to a slew of various upper respiratory, GI, headache, and cardiac symptoms, my holistic/naturopathic doctor has diagnosed me with Lyme disease with some other co-infections including mycoplasma p. and bartonella henesae after some immunoblot test results revealed a couple important bands in the IGG and IGM show positive (IGG: 23,41,93 IGM: 41)... however, her diagnosis is being refuted by my group of traditional doctors who also got the results and are interpreting it very differently. My traditional doctors are saying that since at least 5 bands are not reactive, I am not positive for lyme and since I didn't have an EIA or IFA test done first, my results hold no clinical value. My holistic doctor recommends I start immediate treatment with peptides such as BPC-157 (injection and oral) and Thymosin-alpha 1 along with LDN to boost my immune system which she also believes is compromised (My NK cell count came out really low at 7). The holistic doctor is also thinking I have hypercoagultion as a thrombotic panel showed indications of thick blood (high prothrombin levels, low TAT). I'm not sure what to do as I have been sick for awhile now and it seems like it's only getting worse... I used to be very active and athletic going to the gym 5-6 times a week and sports on the weekends along with a full-time job before I went on vacation to Korea in December...but now I feel like a full-on disabled patient stuck at home and sometimes bedridden because of all my symptoms. I don't want to go down an expensive treatment path to a disease that they are not sure I actually have.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Peter

I'm also in search of any LLMDs in the San Diego/Southern California area who are willing to confirm lyme for me? My PCP suggested I get a second opinion from a "board certified" infectious disease doctor as my first one told me chronic Lyme disease is just a vague group of symptoms and doctors who diagnose it apart from the CDC criteria are quacks that are trying to get your money.

I also heard that dna connexions has the most reliable PCR testing for lyme available at the moment? Any suggestions as to what tests can confirm that I indeed do have lyme?

Welcome, Peter!

The testing you had is sufficient...no need to do additional tests.
You do not need 5 lyme bands reactive for it to be lyme disease.

What's more important is you have symptoms along with those test results.

You don't need anymore testing done. You can take those tests to a LLMD ...so I suggest you start a new thread: "Looking for LLMD in/near San Diego, CA"
Then enable your email option so members can send you some options.

Don't go to an ID Dr. unless that ID Dr. is Lyme literate. (those are rare)

You can also email me...I will send you some names in the are you are searching.

We encourage all new members read through the information in the thread: "New to Lyme?..Start Here!" It's packed full of useful information.

Good luck!

Hi and welcome to our forum,
Im sorry that you have Lyme, finding a good llmd is very important as many that have Lyme can possibly have other co infections. Ticks carry more than just Lyme.

While your waiting to get an appointment it would be wise to start building your immune system, eating gluten free or paleo, no sugar, and begin detoxing.

There is information about detoxing on our new to Lyme start here thread.
