Hi all,
Can anyone confirm if sida ACUTA or houttunyia herbal teas are stimulant or calming?
Hi hope not stimulant, i have insomnia, adding more stimulants would make it worst.

I didn't find sida Acuta tincture stimulating in itself. But the herx had some stimulating Neuro components. Racy thoughts and so on. But that's obviously just at first and dose dependent. Can't speak otherwise

As for sida acuta this is all I know. The roots contain Ephedrine. So it will depend on what part of the plant you have.
I am very easily stimulated by some herbs and drugs. I could not take Sida Acuta. But, remember we are all different and will react differently to each herb.
The best thing is to try it early in the day to see if it affects you.
As for Houttuynia, I had no difficulty with it. But, here again..... someone else might.
This is why we test each herb individually to see if they affect us. Trying 2 herbs together is not recommended because then you will not know which one caused a reaction, if you should get a reaction.

Thank you all. I think it is the leaf parts:
I am buying from lymeherbs.eu
https://lymeherbs.eu/cut-herbs/147-sida-acuta-common-wireweed-leaves-100g.html
Is it ok?

You are going to have to test it for you. No one can say if something is okay for another person. Sorry.

Even if it is only in the roots you will still need to test it on yourself.
Example. I can take 2 whole droppers full of an herb and my 6'7" 225lb husband can only do 1 dropper full. That is what I mean by trying it. We all have different tolerances and I have no idea how those herbs were grown and by whom.
Caution all the way. I cannot guarantee that there were no roots in their herbs to you.
Sorry, but you have to be cautious no matter what anyone tells you. I had so many tell me that certain herbs were like nothing to them and they were horrendous to me.

You might want to use the search button to look for making teas and dosages. I did tinctures. If you get the powder, you can make your own capsules. YouTube has a lot of videos on how to and what to use for that.
I am pretty sure that you won't like the smell of houttuynia tea. It is referred to as the Fishy Smelling Herb by many countries.

Nope. I pretty much stuck with Buhner's core protocol.

I was having really bad insomnia... I was staying up really late every night because I never would feel sleepy- but then I stopped taking sida actua and it completely went away. I never did have insomnia before I started the Buhner protocol.
I think sida IS a stimulant.

Notimelyme, do think a protocol isn't as effective without the Sida acute?
I was having pretty bad insomnia too on buhners protocol. I stopped completely because I have class early in the morning.

I really don't know. But I think if it is causing you insomnia, maybe you don't need to take it.
The problem is, to me it seems like several of buhner's herbs can be too stimulating. Licorice and eleuthero, and also I found that cordyceps seemed to either make me hyperactive or not able to sleep. Also I think rhodiola might be a stimulant also. I don't know.
Also it seems like from what I've heard ginseng could be one also.
I guess I've always had more of a tendency to be hyperactive, so maybe I'm more sensitive.

I just took houttunyia 1 cup tea for 2 days and could not sleep a wink. Is it stimulant or herx? I hate all those herbs being stimulants que instead of calming. Took azithromycin yesterday and skipped houttunyia, and slept again .

I think it's a herx. Houtuynnia always made me sort of sleepy. I thought my insomnia was just from the sida, but the other night, I just couldn't sleep and went to be about
one or two o'clock. The funny thing is I didn't feel tired in the morning.
And yesterday I was really tired and I went to bed at 8:00. I can never tell what's going on.
