From what I recall on other protocols, diet for Lyme was emphasized with a great deal of importance to minimize the food for bacteria. Off the top of my head, I do remember carbs were to be avoided especially simple sugars.
But on Buhner’s protocol, diet isn’t mentioned and it’s actually recommended to take 8 oz pomegranate juice several times throughout the day which also happens to be helpful for mixing all of the powdered herbs. However, pomegranate juice calories add up fast especially since it’s basically just sugar. I’m drinking about 600 calories a day alone just from pomegranate juice. Any ideas why on other protocols diet is strongly emphasized to restrict sugars but on Buhner's protocol it’s not emphasized and actually contradicts the other Lyme diets?
I noticed this too! Do you have his books on the coinfections? In the book Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections in the section on Mycoplasma he goes into great detail on what nutrients to replace (they are heavily scavenged by mycoplasma) I feel that it's important to replace these things with any lyme infection. Also as with any infection imho is best to cut down on sugar so, I'd cut down my intake of pomegranate juice by half and maybe cut it with some water? Licorice could do the job of the pom too if you just wanted to add that to your tincture or powder protocol.
Next: here's the list of some foods listed in the section on nutrient replacement
wheat germ, dark leafy green vegetables, oysters, clams, crabs, mussels, lobsters, beef, liver, pork, ham, chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, whole grains, rice, peas, beans, lentils, nuts, avocados, dark chocolate, green and black tea, seeds: sesame, sunflower seeds, pumpkin, nuts: cashews, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, walnuts, pistachios, mushrooms, seaweed, spirulina, chlorella. Fatty acids!: Eat lots of olives and olive oil
And of course all vegetables...
Health & Wealth to you! :D
