SPECT scan. Yes, from walking up a flight of stairs in the NYC subway to see a doctor 4.5 years ago.
Overexertion always hits me at night and 2-3 days after the exertion. It will hit me instantly like i got struck by lightning; burning, searing pain body-wide, shaking, psychosis, panic attacks, hallucinations, et all. It really is a serious acute episode. My parents, who i lived with at the time said they would wake up because i was talking nonsensically to friends of mine who are dead while drenched in sweat, flailing all over my bed.
Once the sun comes up, these symptoms fade but im left with whatever increased dissociation, memory loss and decreased ability to feel that my brain now has. I didn't know initially that these episodes were caused by energy expenditure but since i learned that, I've been more aware of my limits- no stairs, no standing for more than a couple minutes, no heat, no loud noises, no getting excited (cognitive energy expenditure counts, too) no arguments, no long conversations etc..
Unfortunately, the results of the first few major overexertion episodes have been permanent. For 4.5 years anyway
Wow.. So sorry you experienced that - at least you figured out the trigger and can prevent them now.
Hopefully this will go away once you've treated the infections
