How common are swollen lymph nodes with Lyme? The ones in my neck are swollen and probably have been for a long time. No pain. I feel kind of gunky through my neck and up into my head.

My dad had non-Hodgkins lymphoma around my age and the symptom that tipped them off was that his neck looked thick -- swollen lymph nodes I guess.

I had one in my left clavicle area - you know where it dips in?

But I didn’t know what the sore lump was until my first LLND appt in 2014.

It went away with Bart treatment. That is a common Bartonella symptom - swollen and/or painful lymph nodes.

During bart treatment I had another one pop up behind my right ear. I don’t remember that one being sore.

When my LLND told me it was lymph node swelling - of course I googled it and came across non - hodgekins lymphoma. A couple other symptoms were weight loss and sweating at night. I experienced those.

Dahlias - do you think you also have bart?
(It can also be Lyme though)

Maybe talk to your regular dr about your concerns - I think there are signs in certain blood tests.
It will put your mind at ease .

Here’s an article - says swollen lymph nodes are one of the hallmarks of Lyme disease

I had them - pea sized lumps and some larger directly behind both ears and going down into the neck on both sides, more on the right than the left. My GP sent me for an Ultrasound scan - they said it was because my body was fighting off an ear infection and I had nodules on my thyroid but they said again nothing sinister with anything they found and they would eventually go down once the infection had subsided.

I know my body was dealing with so much more than an ear infection - had a really bad problem with my ears, they are still not 'right' they did a swab test and found staph and anaerobic bacteria. At that time my head and face would burn everything felt so inflamed inside from my neck upwards. As my lyme blood test came back negative they said it was impossible I had that and to rule it out completely !

The swollen lymph nodes went once I started Bart treatment and taking Buhner herbals.

My LLMD noted some other bart symptoms at my last visit, mostly skin issues. So maybe it's that. Thanks! And I'll ask my pcp next time I'm in.

I struggle with this symptom too, been going for a long time for me, probably atleast a year. it feels like an achiness in my left jaw area, a little pea where my jaw meets my neck. its not up by my ear, but lower down my jaw. sometimes i feel throbbing sensation on my teeth on that side.

I have been to the ENT, they notice nothing remarkable there, did a CT scan. however i do have an inflamed lingual tonsil on that side, they chose not to do anything about it. i also went to the dentist, they said nothing wrong with my teeth either. i am going back to the dentist in two weeks to ask again.

i have been treating bartonella now, going into my fourth month of bart treatment. it has gotten better but not gone. it goes up and down, but never really goes away.

One observation is that it does seem to improve, when i detox. like exercise, also, i notice improvement after taking NAC in the morning. not sure if it improves after alka seltzer gold or not. sometimes in hot shower, i stretch and massage the area too, i think that may help.

if i come up with no solutions from the dentist again (or ENT), i may explore drainage massage or accupuncture.

My lymph nodes behind my ears have been chronically swollen for years ever since I got sick, it's been one of my main symptoms.

It's improved as I've treated these infections, much more minimal now. I'm pretty sure if I can keep finding effective treatments and reducing the pathogen load I can eventually get rid of this symptom.

sebreg, have you been able to correlate any specific treatment or detox method that helped reduce your symptoms.

in my case, i believe its one of three things: low level infection in tooth, the inflamed lingual tonsil, or straight up bartonella/lyme

thanks

Note, the lymph node in question for me is submandible lymph node on left side.

Yeah, it's sometimes hard to figure out with these things what exactly is driving the symptom. It could be that it's even a mix of those 3 things you mention.

I do think these infections often can cause lymph node swelling, so hopefully as you keep making progress with treatments that symptom should hopefully resolve over time. I think it's a very good indicator and sign that as you've treated that symptom seems to be improving.

I've had to rotate through a lot of treatments because I tend to eventually plateau on any specific combo. So I can't really say that one treatment has helped the most, but I have been on dapsone and also pyrazinamide protocols which were helpful. Malarone has also always been super effective, so I figure babesia/babs like organism is likely playing a large role. Whenever I take an effective med it does flare my lymph node symptom (along with the other symptoms as well).

It's just a slow process for me, infections must be pretty entrenched and have had quite a high load I imagine, plus always had issues with herxheimers, so it's been a slow process of gradually chipping away at this stuff while taking supportive detox/immune system supplements, healthy diet, etc...

I've also been trying out some essential oil combos from Tick Slayer, and those seem to be very effective as well. I like the abx/herbal combo approach.

I used to post this Utube video on Lymph Massage.

It's something that can help even if you don't have visible swelling of the lymph nodes.

Girlie, that made a visible difference to my neck. Guess that's what I needed!

That's good! I found it quite relaxing to do it. I haven't done it in awhile...I should though.

Interesting - the sun worked....that's great.

For me, it was treating bartonella that finally resolved the lymph node that had plagued me for a couple years.

I just wanted to report an improvement in my swollen left lymph node. I am not sure what caused the improvement however.

yesterday, i went for a bike ride, ended up riding 20 miles. i normally just go 9 or 10 miles, but went further. it was 90 degrees out, and i was sweating. I was out in the sun for over two hours, shirtless too. also, i ate some garlic yesterday, just one clove raw organic.

this morning i woke up, my body aches were a little more pronounced, i assume from the extra effort yesterday. but my swollen lymph node area seemed a bit more improved, not gone, but largely improved.

not sure what to attribute it to, other than sweating (detoxing), and from the movement. i am going to repeat the same today again, maybe just do the normal 10 miles as i don't want to over do it.

thanks, it seems to be up and down, i wonder if its related to EBV. my EBV levels were high in January, though i don't have a lot of the EBV symptoms now other than the lymph node issue.

i am going to use try to suck on or chew garlic for a few days to see if that helps any too.
