Looking for recommended LLMD near Atlanta. I have submitted a request to ILADS but would love to hear some first hand recommendations.

Earlier this summer my husband was bitten and the bullseye rash showed up a few days later. He brushed it off because he had no other symptoms despite me worrying. After a few weeks he was kept awake with severe bloating followed by a headache that was unusual to him. He found a new PCP and went the next day. The PCP basically brushed off the thought of Lyme because of the low percentage of diagnosed cases in Atlanta and when my husband asked about testing the doctor discouraged it. He said the rash could be from STARI and he most likely just picked up a food borne virus which caused the bloating. He was sent home with an inhaler for the asthma he has had since childhood. He has continued to experience headaches and symptoms. Would love to find someone who will take this seriously.

Hi Kaylin!

Welcome to the community!

If you haven't yet, please do read through the 'new to Lyme' thread, as it's full of important information and suggestions.

If you don't get the referrals you are hoping for, please do email either myself (click on my name) we can provide you with the names of those LLMD's that are closest to you - but we don't have the personal experience with them that you are looking for. It's just another option you have.

I wish these drs. would catch up with lyme...but it is best to get evaluated by a knowledgeable physician.

Again, welcome!

Hi and welcome, Since he had the bulls eye he does have Lyme and he does need treatment. See if you can print the ilads recommendation/guidelines for treatment.

Bring this to your MD and see if they will start him on 400 mg of doxy a day while your waiting to get llmd appt.

Make sure to explain that the symptoms have started since the bulls eye.

You can also go to : /www.lymedisease.org/find-lyme-literate-doctors/

to search for llmds.

You can go to the "Lyme net" forum and see if any of their members have recommendations.

Cut out all sugar, alcohol, eat gluten free/ paleo type diet, plenty of rest. Start building immune system up.

Most llmd's have waiting lists , so do ask to be on the waiting/cancellation list.

Treating this early is the best chance of getting rid of it, and not ending up with chronic Lyme and co-infections

We do encourage new embers to read our " New to Lyme" start here thread at the top of the page.

it has helpful info n Lyme, symptoms, testing and more..

There are excellent books out there: Stephen Buhner's "Healing Lyme"

Dr. William Rawls book , "Unlocking Lyme"

Sr R. Horowicz books, "Why cant I get Better' and 'How can I get Better"

Dr Jerrnigan's book, " Beating Lyme Disease"

Take care and I wish you the best of healing.
