I don’t even know where to begin. I can’t seem to find any answers. Maybe you can assist. Lyme EIA reflex WB =positive. Lyme disease antibodies IgG, IgM both negative, however the IgG two bands came back reactive band 18 and 41. Doc says no Lyme. Not sure I agree. Anyone have any insight for me. I can’t seem to figure out if it’s positive or negative. It’s my 24 year old daughter who’s been sick with fever, headache for 9 days and seems to be getting better with antibiotics. Help please.
Hi Roxanne - welcome to our community!
Your daughter has symptoms that are getting better with abx - this suggests a bacterial infection.
As sebreg posted - band 41 is the flagella of a spirochete (there are a few other things that could cause that). Many of us with Lyme do have band 41 and it’s certainly significant.
What lab were the tests done?
If you want to retest - I suggest you do Igenex lyme WB.
Band 18 isn’t usually considered Lyme specific
But - a lyme literate dr should be able to diagnose clinically (plus ruling out other possible diagnoses) and use tests for a back up
At this point you could take her to a LLMD for an evaluation - and if more testing is needed - he/she can advise.
