My current doc is about to put me on malarone in addition to the bactrim and clindamycin I'm already on. She says it's to thoroughly attack the babesia. Anyone feel this antibiotic has made significant progress in their health?
I only took Malarone for a couple months...not sure if it did anything...but I was on Mepron for many months and it did help with Babesia symptoms.
As you probably know, Malarone (anti-malarial) contains Atovquone (Mepron) - but not as high dose as when you take Mepron.
The typical mepron dose is 750 mg twice daily (although my LLMD doubles that)
Each tablet of Malarone has 250 mg of atovaquone. But, it has another med in it (progaunil) and the two combined add to its effectiveness.
Clindamycin also has some effect on Babesia as well.
