Blackbutters- this is kind of a "general reply" to anything gut related here, for anyone reading this who has not reeled in what gut issues they might have.
There are quite a few gut tests ive seen over the years. There is not one that tells everything though. Multiple tests are usually needed. I need more myself.
I put issues and investigation into these categories:
1)Mechanical workings or malfunction ect of any gut organs. (diverticulitis, crooked bowel ect)
2)Bacterial or yeast levels off or wrong type in wrong place, or other pathogens that dont belong in the gut ever (infection).
3)Bodies internal inflammatory cytokine or antibody release level to individual foods and/or food groups, sensitivity or intolerance. (gluten, milk, FODMAPS, ect)
4)Bodies allergy reaction (hives/breathing) to foods and or food groups (like kids peanut allergy)
5)Too much or too little fiber, each has its pros and cons.
6)Levels of bodies digestive enzymes (pancreatic or gall bladder) or acid PH is off (usually to low). Supplements can help this.
7)Any combination of these. (example: GERD and / or Reflux is usually a combination of above issues )
This is my mental checklist, I'm sometimes #7 .
Some of the above is about
food, some is not.
food- This is why one diet for all lymies is insane. Newbies ask this a lot (you did not though) with varied answers. Certain foods for certain issues and bodies is more like it. Different food do different things to different people, some is immediate, some is not. Diet/food "Investigating" is a good idea though, otherwise one will not know. Our bodies are wrecked in more ways than one, thats why it went chronic in the first place. Sometimes these "diets" have fad names, sometimes not. I use a few modified versions I call "my diet" lol, usually with good results until society pressures me into "bending my food rules" around holidays. With me, the bad effects are seldom immediate, as they can build up slowly week(s) later. For the "healthy eating doubters" among society, I like to mention that I have considerably lowered inflammation tests with food selection for MY body and stopped hashimotos progression after 20 years of going downhill.
Can food fix lyme? NO. Can it ease overall stress on a "ill stressed" body? If done right, YES.
Initial lyme symptoms in late 80's, again with bullseye early 90's. Started ABX 2014, ended in Jan 2016. Flares ended after. Lyme "B gone" as far as I can tell (Cured?). Now: Healing the aftermath-Rebuilding / fine tuning / fixing muscles and still improving nutrition and immune via better gut health. + 20 years of Hashimoto might now be improving.
