Anyone use(d) astragalus?

Did it help anything?

What type of herxes did it cause?

Do you have chronic or long-term infections?

Do you have mold? If so, did it help with mold toxicity or increasing the ability to detox mold?

Maybe dont use it, makes you feel sick putting immune system in hypermode I guess. nothing happened to me but when my wife took it she literally felt she is coming down with big sickness. Once stopped all normal. for Lyme patients if immune system already down, I dont know what will happen. I dont have lyme and neither my wife.

I’ve been trying for a long time to determine if I can take astragalus.

It was in a tincture I used as an immune booster three years into my illness (before I knew I had lyme), when I seemed to be catching everything. That combo seemed really good for me at the time so I try to go back on it from time to time.

I suspect it increases inflammation for me right now but it’s hard to be sure it’s the astragalus alone because of other variables. So I usually chicken out and drop it after a few weeks.

I hadn’t thought about the mold detox possibilities.

I think it’s potentially a really valuable herb if you can tolerate it.

I have read multiple places that it's not great for people with chronic/late-stage/autoimmune/advanced Lyme but I forget why. So I have not tried it. But I have given it to my child and partner when they have gotten tick bites, and they feel no effects, aside from not developing Lyme.

A couple years ago, taking it really helped me a lot. I tried some recently though, and it made me feel a lot worse.

Buhner says (when answering why it's contraindicated with chronic lyme)

"If you are not currently sick, you can certainly take astragalus. The reason for not recommending it is that astragalus raises the parts of the immune system that are overactivated in chronic lyme. Those parts of the immune system are highly effective against lyme early on and help prevent or reduce the disease but if they are low to begin with and you are infected the infection can spread more easily. After awhile the immune system does ratchet up those parts to attack the lyme bacteria but by then the spirochete has altered itself and is no longer very affected by them, those parts of the immune system then begin to cause some of the lyme symptoms people have making the disease a kind of autoimmune problem. My book Healing Lyme goes into this in a great amount of detail"

I know the whole contraindication with chronic Lyme and autoimmune thing, but I also know that some people who have been sick for years did well with it. I have always avoided it, but am considering testing it out as my CD57 dropped to an all-time low after a good increase a year ago. The decline is due to current mold exposure, which I haven’t posted about yet.

Anyway, I was thinking of trying it to see what happens. If I tolerate it, perhaps it could increase my CD57 and maybe even make me a little less susceptible to the whole gamut of pathogens. I figured it’s worth a try.

Besides the one who mentioned tincture, has anyone taken it in capsule form?

I started using it after about 2 1/2 years of treatment in small dose. I had no issues with it.

I have my husband take 1000 mg a day for the last 2 years. As a preventive.

I am fighting mold also that is what is most likely keeping me from reaching full remission llmd believes.

Just found out house has some mold in kitchen(couldn't see it but some mold is microscopic) and in one bathroom so working on remediation and for myself I am using ultra binder also considering Quercertin again to help with when the mold dies off in my body and then some mold toxins don't bind but get free.

Immugentics also said to test cat and Dog with plates. They can colonize and expose it to us. So they need to be shampooed with proper shampoos to get rid of mold.

I just watched a great informative video on Better Health guy (U tube) with Dr N who wrote the book toxic.
I highly recommend watching it and getting his book. Super intelligent and caring doctor.

Take care and I wish you the best of healing.
