Opinions on Buhner are not against the forum rules.
I quickly read through the posts and don’t see anything that needs to be edited. (Unless I missed something - I am tired... lol)
It still amazes me how people get offended when you question or criticize something from a particular herbalist, naturopath, alternative doctor, protocol, whatever. Science is ever so changing, it's changing on an hourly basis, I mean for all we know there might be another drug that pops up tomorrow better than disulfiram. What we know as fact today may change tomorrow. No one is perfect, even Dr. B, Dr. J, and Dr. H are been wrong from time to time about
chronic lyme, but that's part of learning, learning from your mistakes and improving your treatment protocols. Sadly, there's some Doctors, LLMDs, and even Herbalists that build egoes and think they don't have to change for new science when it surfaces, like for instance biofilms. It's as if they think the disease and science is going to change for them, lol, kind of what's going on with the IDSA....
I think many are forgetting that some are new patients that come to this forum purposely to hear everyone's input so they can collaborate and learn if a particular protocol, herb, or drug works for borrelia, coinfection, or biofilm. Even see if a particular or even Doctor or Herbalist may be full of hot air. This is what makes the forum great, it truly does, you take that away, you're taking away freedom of speech which this country is based upon...
This is the internet folks, grow up and respect everyone's opinions.
I've learned he is a high school dropout and has no academic background in science or professional degree much less a medical degree.
Like I said, I still stand behind what I said, I still think he's a genius in his own right. There's plenty of geniuses that have dropped out of high school and college, but not having a degree or at least studied in the field doesn't help the situation.
But hey, ever heard of an individual called Rick Simpson? Look, do I think some of the stuff Simpson say's is quite a bit embelished, most definitely, but I tell you this, the guy has helped millions of patients in pain and I suspect cured many people's cancers. But just like I criticize Buhner's herbs and protocols, the problem with both of these supplements is the probably won't be enough to cross the blood brain barrier to erradicate borrelia in the brain or cancer in the brain.
While Buhner's specialty is what herb works on what coinfection, his not so specialty is the science behind persister cells and biofilms. And it's crazy to me to see how Stephen Buhner and Dr. Rawls kind of dismiss Stevia and biofilms, then people just end up repeating on the forums like it's written in stone, despite the top LLMDs having success with herbs like Stevia and Xylitol with their antibiotics.
Human beings for whatever reason always become tribalistic and take sides, you should always take information from multiple sides and implement it to the treatment of chronic lyme. If it doesn't work for you, great, give your opinion and move on
I'm sure Upatnite is learning a lot from this thread... Which is good!
