Hi again,

Thanks to WalkingbyFaith, I got tested for mold by my LLMD.

I tested slightly elevated for Aspergillus mold found in the environment and super high for Fumonisins B1. This one is mold that's found growing on corn.

I was going gluten free and replacing gluten with corn based foods as a substitute.

Then my LLMD suggested treating for that too at some point.

What would that be? Because Nystatin does zip for me as well as Diflucan. I'm completely resistant to it. Comments...suggestions welcomed!

ElizK,

Which tests did you do? Did you test the house and your body?

Most all grains and some other foods are highly prone to mycotoxin contamination. Those foods are monitored and tested by agricultural authorities. However, when people test high for mycotoxins in their body, I believe it’s far more likely to be coming from the environment rather than food sources. Unless you quit eating corn without making any changes in your environment or treatment changes and then retested and the mycotoxins significantly lowered, I wouldn’t count on the food being the primary source of exposure.

That’s my opinion. I know some doctors are led to believe otherwise. I know Dr. Shoemaker, who is the mold guru, had patients eat all the peanut butter they could stand (knowing peanuts are mold contaminated). Their CIRS labs were not affected by the food, meaning the peanut butter did not contribute to illness with CIRS caused by mold exposure. Shoemaker does not, however, endorse testing people for mycotoxins.

I just finished 2 months of Fluconazole 100 mg 1x day. Now I am taking it only Fri-Sun. Supposed to be on Nystatin now but can’t seem to get the Rx filled. Anyway, I had no noticeable changes or reactions to the Fluconazole, which surprised me. After telling doc, she Rx Amphotericin B oral. I haven’t filled that one yet.

Anyway, I don’t know the best way to kill mold in the gut, if it’s there. As for removing mycotoxins, that is done with binders of various sorts - activated charcoal, chlorella, bentonite clay, zeolite, modified citrus pectin, chitosan (from shellfish), and more.

I have found Zeobind to be more helpful symptom wise, and just added bentonite clay and GI Detox a few days ago.

Rx include Cholestyramine (most potent binder of all and hard for some to handle). Welchol is another, reportedly 25% as effective as Cholestyramine (CSM). If your doc Rx CSM and it’s too much to handle, you can micro-dose it at whatever level you can handle.

P.S. - Georgia Hunter said mold doesn’t stand a chance with nigella sativa. I have used that, too, both seeds and oil. Tastes like Pine-Sol. It’s a cheap, natural option to kill mold, fungus, etc in the GI tract.

CSM is the gold standard for treating mold. It binds to mycotoxins and removes them.

Okra powder is a viable altelrnative for those who can't get, or can't tolerate, CSM. It also binds to mycotoxins although not as strong as CSM

I am using okra and finding it to be very very helpful.

https://www.survivingmold.com/treatment

thats the Dr. Shoemaker site.

BTW Nystatin kills fungus but does nothing to remove mycotoxins which is what you need to do

Hi, I did a home test, and moved from the place where we were I was residing. I also did a urine sample w/Vibrant Wellness. I live in a beach community in So. Cal.

However, I was plagued in my 20's by repeated candida infections.

Thank you for the suggestions for treatment...this helps a lot!

Be careful with gluten free stuff, especially if it is corn based...corn is highly inflammatory
