"I've been under a lot of stress. And really, my only issue is the ongoing fatigue and now sleep issue. Although I don't feel anxious, I wonder if I have some underlying anxiety that is interrupting me being able to truly rest...? "
Your still fatigued (?). Need to ask yourself if your truly better than when you had active lyme.
Stress is a huge player in sleep issues and effects introverts more than extroverts. So it could be that elevating your PM cortisol. Stress and anxiety over lap and one is the symptom of the other.
Low thyroid keeps you awake to. Hypo and hyper thyroid both create anxiety. Thinking while trying to sleep IS anxiety. Not being able to turn your brain off is a good example.
Have you tried any of the many supplements for stress and anxiety mentioned here time top time? One good one that came up recently was posted about Lithium Orotate (5mg). Its a supp not Rx.
Thanks, Astro. Active lyme? Honestly, I can't say I ever had active lyme. I only tested for it because my kids had it. I believe I'm one of those people who may carry it but not have symptoms (my count is suspected to be low per test/doctor's opinion). So, I proactively treated lyme/bartonella/babesia. To be honest, I can't say I noticed any difference with proactively treating. Quite the contrary, treatment actually caused issues moreso than resolving issues, which was really frustrating to me personally since I was proactively trying to treat.
Yes, I've been on various herbals for adrenals for quite some time now. I alternate between my faves. I tried CBD oil (hemp), and it caused intense anxiety, which is atypical as many people use it to treat anxiety but was the opposite effect for me (frustrating). Naturopath suggested it was because my hormones/adrenals were messed up. I'm only a few things nowadays, but when my sleep got bad, I went off of all of them temporarily to see if they were somehow related. No difference.
Is it possible that adrenal herbals for long term usage somehow messed up my sleep?? I did switch from my usual adrenal herbal to a different one, but that didn't make a difference.
I'm well aware of lithium orotate. My kids have used it in the past, but I can't say it has helped them previously. We are giving another go with it lately for them. I could try that too, I guess.
I've been under a high level of stress for many, many, many years, so I find it hard to believe it's just now messing up my sleep to this extreme. But then again, sometimes I think it is stress related. But lately, things have been "calmer", and my sleep continues to be poor. I do believe something changed internally for me, but I really have no idea what.
