Also, saying things like "if you survive this..." is very negative and only adding to people's anxiety and fear, especially given that vast majority of people will indeed survive this. Maybe it's important to remind ourselves that this isn't ebola or ebola's statistics. Will people die? Of course! And my heart will go out to every single one of them.
I think it's also important to remind ourselves that life is truly a gift and one that has no guarantees. This is true before the global pandemic and will be true afterwards. Each day is a gift, IMO, and I think some people have taken that for granted.
I wish everybody wellness... and peace (and safety).
Thanks for saying it as it is. I'm sick and tired of people acting like the apocalypse is upon us. Most of the panic is owed to the media as well. Making it out to be a far bigger problem than it is in reality. An issue yes, but one warranting such insane panic and irrationality? No.
I especially detest the fact that it is quite probably, those freaking out the most, that have taken life for granted. I've barely been getting by each day, but I am thankful for each one that passes by.
Here I go again, being all logical...
"More died than recovered."
That clearly implies a 50% or more fatality rate. Your numbers do not support that.
8 deaths out of 271 confirmed cases is ~3% fatality currently. That may go up as time will go on. But to say that "more died than recovered" is incredibly misleading given that we simply don't know how the rest will do at this point. And 3% is higher than the actual rate since an untold amount get the virus, don't have a confirm lab, but still recover.
Please choose your words wisely.
Not to mention that, if one looks at the stats, the notion that more died than recovered is ridiculous as, the majority of cases are mild cases and a very small percentage of those are critical. Of course also, not everyone who has it gets tested. So yes, the fatality rate probably is much lower than 3%...
Oh I was going mad seeing all the panic in the facebook groups and stuff. AGH!
. Keep dropping logic bombs on this stuff!
