I actually started this stuff last night on my NPs recommendation. It says you will worse at first as it starts killing the bad stuff, but holy moly my stomach felt like WW3. I took some quicksilver binder before bed and it calmed down. Nervous to take this mornings pill.

I looked at that garden of life. It does have some good strains in there like the bifido ones and lactobicillus plantarum, but it also has some yeast species. I personally can’t handle any yeast, even beneficial ones. When I take saccromyces boularrdi my stomach is a mess. Any new pro b can cause some diarrhea at first, but 100bn is also a lot, you’re supposed to start slow when taking a new probiotic. I break the capsule up and start slow the first week usually

i have had moderate herx from mutaflor also

but I got that originally from even a tiny bit of homemade sauerkraut or any pretty much any probiotics in the past.

I put it down to leaky gut - so in my case, anything that kills existing bacteria, feeds existing bacteria or introduces new bacteria into the gut can cause adverse reactions.

I've had rumbling, loose stools, and general GI unhappiness from a new probiotic before. It's not uncommon as the body adjusts to the new flora, and as pathogenic bacteria and yeasts may die off. That said, you might have some other issue with one or more of the strains if symptoms don't dissipate within a week or so. I know now that some of my issues with new probiotics have had to do with mast cell activation syndrome flaring in response to high-histamine probiotic strains.

Garzie you mentioned culturing the probiotic in a yogurt in another thread. How safe is this procedure? And is there a risk that the cultured probiotic will mutate into something dangerous? Can you please share a link to a good tutorial on how to achieve this safely? Thank you!
