Dunno how essential Gluten free is, but Hawking survived 50 years with a disease that kills people in one year after diagnosis (ALS).

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/pmc1123440/

Professor Hawking supplements his diet with daily mineral and vitamin tablets, and zinc, cod liver oil capsules, folic acid, vitamin B complex, vitamin B-12, vitamin C and vitamin E are said to have been particularly helpful. He also follows a diet free of gluten and vegetable oil and avoids convenience foods; quite recently he started to include a small amount of dairy produce.

gluten free and started to include SMALL amount of dairy (so the guy did not eat any dairy for 40 years). This was in 2002. He died in 2018...

So yeah, if u have neurodegenerative diseases, dont eat gluten and milk. Dunno about vegetable oils, tho.

i think the "vegetable oils" is a reference to, or just a lazy way of describing the majority of vegetable oils consumed in developed countries - ie industrially produced seed oils - corn, canola, sunflower etc etc

these are considered harmful and inflammatory by most in the functional medicine world - whereas other vegetable sourced oils like extra virgin coconut, olive or avocado most would consider to be healthy

in most reporting on diet and science the nuance is lost

same for the host of high fat diet studies on mice - where, in the study, high fat actually means diets supplemented with industrial seed oils - and low and behold - the inflammation markers of the mice go up - and high fat diets are then pronounced unhealthy - sigh.

as a society we really do need to do something about the way science is reported

Some people are definitely sensitive to gluten, but even the guy who brought this to the public's attention says that too much has been made of it. I was keto for a time, and have been in the past, but I always reach a point where meat becomes unpalatable to me. So I go back to a balanced diet, with my grains (mostly) whole.

I bake my own WW bread, and even add gluten to help it rise, as WW is naturally weak in that area. I used to buy organic flour, but that became inconvenient. But I still insist on non-GMO. Take a look at a picture of dwarf wheat, which is an invention, it looks like an indestructible industrial product. It has twice the chromosomes as heritage wheat, and the story is that our bodies have a hard time digesting it properly. So non-GMO is important to me.

As for oils, check out Mercola's interview with Tucker Goodrich. He reminds me of Buhner, being self-taught and having no degrees, but being brilliant. The omega-6 oils are not good for us and should be minimized. I've just gotten serious about this of late, and have all but eliminated peanuts, a biggie for me.Their o6 to o3 ratio is 5000 to 1! If you really want a scare find a video of how Canola oil is made. It is a repurposed industrial product, as is cottonseed oil (Crisco), and many of the others. Here is a good introduction.

Paul,

That video is no longer available. Wish more people put stuff up on Rumble instead of just YouTube which is highly censored.

That's recent. I found it on Bit-chute and on Brighteon. I also patronize the free speech sites as much as possible.

That interview is two hours long. There are other Goodrich videos that are shorter. I can't say which might be the best.

WbF:

There's a ton of videos with Tucker Goodrich, if you search Ye' Olde YouTube. I like the "Peak Human" podcast/YouTube channel and Tucker was a guest on that show about eight months ago. You can find that interview (audio only) [HERE], if interested.

The Crisco logo today still has a little flame on it for a reason. It was originally made for burning and heating.

I only use olive oil for pan frying anything, and if I ever wanna deep fry fish, which is rare, I use peanut oil.

Butter is something that I haven’t had in five years, I tried Ghee, But I haven’t bought any more in about two years.

I just baked some trout and red potatoes tonight and Ghee probably would’ve been good on both but I didn’t have any. I think I’ll go buy some Ghee again, but that stuff sure is expensive, Even at Walmart.

The only bread I ever eat is gluten-free and just for sandwiches. Then I use olive oil hybrid mayonnaise if the breads to dry.

Gluten free taco burritos tomorrow night. The very common Mission brand name of tortilla wraps has a new grain free tapioca wrap, it’s pretty good, a lot like wheat flour wraps. Since it’s grain free there’s no corn in it either.
