This is an interesting topic and one that i'm just starting to follow. Have been tied up with other stuff (flares and markets), so havent been on here as much.
1.) Interesting discussion on the downstream vs upstream issues. This chicken or egg discussion is one that continues to baffle not only those of us on healingwell, but science in general. I like garzie's descript
ion, but I'm also starting to think these are co-incident factors. I.e. maybe the infection causes gut permeability, but it's the gut permeability that perpetuates the cycle. Maybe only those who are predisposed by genetics or lifestyle to gut permeability and immune instability are the ones who fall victim to chronic infection in the first place. Given that it's always an immune system problem first and foremost, and the fact that 70% of our immune system resides in our gut, and this leaky gut is one common theme across almost every disease, it does seem like this intestinal permeability and the weakened immune system that comes with it, is one mechanism by which these infections become entrenched. And if some people like Mary Ruddick or CFS remission guy have some results (maybe not 100% or even 50%, but some X% that they are able to get into remission by treating the microbiome), then maybe there is some validity to the fact that restoring gut permeability can right the immune system which can rid the body of infection. Easier said than done, however.
2.) reading through some of Markov's links. Only spent 15-20 minutes. But I notice that a lot of the infections he's targeting w/ the autovaccine (e coli. staph, strep, klebsiella, proteus) are the exact same bacteria that would be targeted in leaky gut. It's possible that kidney bacteriosis is a coincident factor w leaky gut. Maybe they are one and the same and spring up together. And therefore his test for bacteriosis of the kidney is really a test for leaky gut, as is his treatment targeting bacteria you'd see in both cases.
Just seems odd to me that this gut dysbiosis is an issue we see again and again and again in almost every inflammatory/autoimmune/chornic disease. But oh wait, it's wrong, its actually dysbiosis of the kidneys thats doing it (in cfs at least) and markov is the first to figure this out. maybe he figured out the cure to leaky gut/intestinal dysbiosis and its an autovaccine
This does make me want to try the strep/staph/klebsiella/proteus phage that arrived a couple weeks ago, but i'm very chicken now after this most recent flare..
