Has anyone tried Lyrica?

I just started about a week ago, and so far, I think I'm seeing results! I've had a few pain free days, and today, with this big front moving through, I have a migraine, but I can still work with it, it's tolerable. Normally, with a front this size, I would be totally incapacitated, puking, unable to see out of one eye, and not able to use the left side of my body-- this would last at least 2 days. If so... I really really hope it continues (the Lyrica) because I haven't felt this little pain in a long, long time. It's also helped w/ my neck injury and the awful numbness, tingly electric feeling in my hand.

I was feeling like there was nothing out there that could help me... I've tried so much and either couldn't take it, or it didn't work.

I am having a few side effects: I"m a bit tired/drowsy, but that is getting a bit better, constipation (this is pretty minor, so not a deal breaker for using the med), and a touch loopy, but that too is getting better. Sometimes I can't find quite the right word for something (but I do that plenty even w/o the meds, so I'm not sure it' s the Lyrica, or if the slight loopiness just makes it more obvious).

So far, not too bad. I'm really hoping that this is all I experience side effect wise... and that my kidneys tolerate it and I don't gain too much weight. (yes, I'm vain... but I just don't want to gain a ton of weight! )

If you've tried it, how did it work for you? How were the side effects?

I have been taking Lyrica and Keppra as a preventative for about 3 months now and I can tell a huge difference.  Like you, I still have the migraines, but they aren't as severe and I can function with them.  I don't notice any decrease in the number of headache days that I have each week/month, but the pain is much more tolerable.

the side effects eventually go away, and you can function normally (Or as close to it while having a migraine!)

hope this helps you...

I have had migraines for 25 years. NEVER ENDING MIGRAINE since August.
I have tried so many meds I have forgotten their names... try to list those I can: abortives: frova, amerge, axert, imitrex, migrainol, DHE, imitrex pills, maxalt,

preventatives: depakote, topomax, keppra, lyrica, amitriptilyne, ridlin,

There are many more that I will list as I remember!

I also have UC which is in remission at the time being.

I am currently taking the keppra and lyrica along with the magnesium twice a day and ridlin once at 8 am and noon for the migraines. It has slowed them down, but nothing has stopped them. Also take oxycodone when it gets unbearable.

doctor added Cymbalta today. Guess I was in a funk when I went in for my appt!
