Hi there,
I have been disgnosed with a form of mirgraine called hemiplegic migraine with an aura.
The aura that occurs with me is that i seem "out of it" for 10 to 20 minutes and then come round again, remembering nothing.
My jaw will drop and have no speech, plus i can't move the left hand side of my body for the duration and of the "attack" and this continues for about 10 mins after i come round again.
Only sometimes do i actually get a sore head after i come round not before.
Before it happens i now get a metal/bloody taste in my mouth, this is how i know i am going to take one.
It was only happening to me about once every three months but now i constantly taking these every 3-4 hours a day but not in my sleep.
from reading forums, postings and other websites i havn't found anyone that is taking this many is such a short space of time and was wondering if anyone else suffers from the same condition.I cannot go to work and just stay in the house which in itself is becoming depressing never mind the attacks.
I live in the UK,is there any sort of income support or DLA availble to me if i have this condition ?
I have been on inderal which helped but was taken off them and put onto topomax 100mg.when on topomax the attacks seemed more frequent and severe so im now off them and going back on inderal to try them again.
Any help/information would be grateful.

Hi Migrainehelp,

Welcome to healing Well. Sorry hear of the awful time you are having at the moment. Have you come across Migraine Action Association in the UK - this is their website: http://www.migraine.org.uk/index.aspx. If you look under 'contact us' you will find some phone numbers and you will be able to get help and advice.

Meanwhile you need to see Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist to help you find a way forward with your treatment.

Please let me know how you get on, take care
