Hi There

Feeling very worried about my symptoms and wondering what looks most likely?  Have an appt with a neuro booked for later this month, but I am just spending day on day thinking about what it could be.

Initially in early Dec, I had a feeling of fulness in my right eye tear duct area, and this was on and off for  month, with some eye pain (Eyes tested - ok), then the facial pain started, behind my eyes, nose, bridge of nose, then ear ache, then forehead and then headaches intermittently in the front of the head.

Now I have developed a creeping sensation over the top right side of forehead and cheeks, a bit like a spider crawling across.  Sometimes if feels like it is cold within my face (If that makes sense)

Over recent days, my forehead feels tight and achy.

In terms of congestion, this appears to vary - some days I am more congested and others, not.

I have also been sick and nauseous on a few occasions, but this appears to be as a result of coughing.  I had one incident of blurred vision about a month ago when I woke up.

If I get up in the middle of the night, I feel awful, it's very hard to explain, and similarly if I turn over, I seem to feel strange.

I also seem to feel a bit dizzy although, not so the room is spinning, just a little off balance...

The symptoms seem to worsen throughout the day and be worse in the evening...

Help  I'm worried this may be a brain tumour, or bad sinuses that then lead to something dreadful

Hello Fairyloveheart,

Your symptoms sound quite a bit like mine did when I had one of my worse sinus infections.  I had weird feelings across my cheek and forhead, I described it as feeling like a feather tickling my face...the spider scenario would have sent me into a panic :P

For some reason, when I laid down on my back the discomfort in my face seemed to increase so I had to sleep on my sides or my stomach.  I got dizzy quite often, even passed out a few times.  My symptoms were usually worse during the evenings as well.

I can understand that you're worried, I was very worried when I first started getting my symptoms.  Try not to worry though, it really doesn't do any good (as I know from experience :P).  If it's something like bad sinuses, a simple sinus surgery can make you feel so much better.

Please let me know how your Neurologist Appt goes, and how you're doing,

Hi fairyloveheart,

Welcome to Healing Well. Please try not to worry about this being a tumour as usually with tumours, headache is the last thing to arrive, which is usually just after diagnosis because of other symptoms!

Please let me know what your Neuro thinks?

take care

Thank you both for your kind words - as we all know, anxiety  probably makes the original problems worsen in most cases.

It's like my life is on hold...whilst I wait for the death sentence. I can't think about anything else, I haven't really been living this past month through worry aswell as the pain, just existing.

The neuro appt is on Tuesday but I have been waiting a month for it - during which my mind has been working overtime.

Will post after I have visited to see what they say....

Thanks Again

Hi Fairyloveheart,

I don't know if you're a humoruos person at all or not, but I've often found that trying to inject a little humor into your situation is often very helpful.  After so long of worrying about my tests a appointments I realized that worrying wasn't doing me any good, it was just getting me even more upset and, therefore, increasing my symptoms.  I just started making jokes and, while they were forced at first, after a while I was actually able to laugh at the situation.

For example: I had a checkup with my ENT after my sinus surgery and he was looking at a CT of mine and he said "you're looking good" and I was like "me or CT?"  He got flustered and started blushing and was like "Well I was talking about the scan, but of course you look good too..."  After that it became a lot easier for me to relax, even when I was waiting on an important test.

I really hope everything goes well for you. If you ever need to talk, I'm always around :)

Hello Again

Went to the neuro today, and she did a range of tests with tuning forks and pins!  She seemed to ignore some of my symptoms though - maybe as she thought they were irrelevant? When I said about feeling dizzy - she said...maybe blood pressure. She was also very preoccupied with timing of pain and how many days in January, feb etc I'd had the pain, how many hours for etc

She has ordered a Brain and Sinus CT scan, but as this is the UK - who knows how long I'll have to wait. I then had some blood tests for B12 and Thyroid.

I asked her what she thought it was and she just said...it doesn't point to anything  sinister, maybe migraine....
Not sure how that can be so. The pain is mainly behind my nose and forehead.

I suppose I need to try and stay positive until the scans are done. She seemed to be v interested that I didn't eat meat.

I think you are right about the humour - shame the neuro hadn't thought so too, she was scary, Very abrupt and to the point.  She didn't smile once and I swear she enjoyed pricking me with a pin a little too much!

I asked what meds to take and she just said ibuprofen!
xxx

Will post again soon....no doubt I'll have some wobbles....
xx

Well it's many months on now and still no further forward. I had a CT scan of my brain and sinuses in Feb but nothing showed up on either, but am still finding it hard to cope with the ongoing pain. The docs are not being very helpful, they are just saying , there is nothing on the scan, so there's nothing wrong with you - but that doesn't help me manage the pain and cope with day to day life.

I have been on cocodamol which makes no difference, amitriptyline for months which made no difference. I am at my wits end. The pain varies in intensity from day to day but is always there to some extent.  It is between my eyes, forehead, down the sides of my nose, above my ear, behind my ear. I don't know how I can go on like this :(
