I have been suffering for 2 years with daily constant headaches. I am currently being treated at Jefferson Headache Center. I have done 2 inpatient treatments (14 days each) including lidocaine infusion at Jefferson. I am now taking 3600mg daily of neurontin,90mg daily of nardil, namenda, clonazepam, abilify, haloperidol, procardia, toradol, migranal, and clonodine. I am at the point where I need to simplify this mess, I still have daily pain,so what is the point of all the meds?? Has anyone been able to find effective pain relief with any alternative treatments. My case is kind of tough but I am willing to try anything at this point to get relief and resume living! I am currently on SSD due to migraine, but hope to someday get my life back! Any suggestions of successful alternative treatments would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry to hear you are in daily pain, and are taking so much medication. I had some success by receiving accupuncture on a regular basis (from a practitioner who really knew what he was doing). The most success I've had is from being on a restrictive diet, in which I eliminated all major  migraine triggers (MSG, nitrates, caffeine, citrus, chocolate, nuts, etc.) from my diet.

Have you previously attempted any alternative therapies? Sending good thoughts your way! Good luck in finding something that works for you, I know how frustrating it can be.

Thank you for your well wishes. I am currently looking into accupunture,a family member of mine is certified. I have a restricted diet already being on nardil(MAOI). I also try to meditate regularly, to keep myself relaxed, stress totally effects pain levels. I am really getting to the point of desperation, being in pain all day everyday! All I seem to do is try to medicate and nothing helps. I also have a pineal cyst, that all docs say do not cause the headache, however all the people who have them suffer from constant headaches without relief. I am just very frustrated with my treatment at this point and need to find  other options! Thank you again for your well wishes and all the best to you! tongue

Hello Brayse,
Do you exercise very much?  I know that exercise can increase pain levels (as it does for me) but there are a lot of people that feel better after exercise due to the release of endorphins.  It can also help with your stress levels.  I can empathize with being frustrated and needing more options, I really feel for you.
Wishing you the best, *hugs*
