Yesterday was a really bad day for me in migraine land.  Woke up with a headache and took an Imitex shot which did not do all that much but dragged myself into work.  Ended up taking another shot which didn't help.
Placed a call to my neurologist's office and got the answering machine.  Left a message and waited for a call back.
Finally I had to admit defeat and leave work and go to the ER.  I must have REALLY looked bad because my office mate asked if I was ok and needed a ride.
At the ER they tried 4 times and could not get an IV going so they just gave me a shot of deluadid (sp?) it worked some but not enough so they gave me another.  Of course laying down I was feeling fine so they sent me on my way.  Wasn't feeling so hot on the way home so stopped and got a bag of ice so I could ice my head.  Got home and iced my head and tried to sleep.  Got some sleep in but not enough.  My head started hurting more and more so I took another Imitrex shot.
I did get a hold of my neurologist and made an opointment for this AM.  Well by 2:30 this morning I could not take it any more and went back to the ER.  This time they were able to get the IV going and gave me  Compazine, Tordal, and Benadry.  That took some of the edge off but not enough so they added some Morphine and something else.  That seemed to do the trick.  Didn't get a whole lot of sleep but made it to the neurologist.
Basically the appointment ended up with me being told that they don't know what else they can do for me.  We are changing me to Relpax from Imitrex and taking me off of the Verapamil and will continue the Cymbalta for another week and see how that goes.  We are scheduling another MRI just to be sure that something new is not going on.  If that doesn't work we will try Topamax for the preventative.
They suggested I see a headache specialist but there isn't one here where I live (the only draw back to my move from a larger city) and the one they suggest has a waiting list of at least 5 months and they do not do the referals I need a primary doctor to do that.
Yikes just make my headache go away and not come back for a week and I will be happy at this point.
Thanks for letting me vent.

Sorry to hear you have had such a rough time. You do need to see a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist. Here in the UK some of us have to travel long distances to see a Headache Specialist who waiting lists are 2 years long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there and don't rule out getting on the Headache Specialist waiting list - it was the best thing I have ever done for my head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just may need to travel but it will be well worth it!

take care
