hi all, I have constant aching and burning pain on top of my head.
It started about 3 yrs ago and it got worse since last year. (extreme stress triggered it at first)
Most of time, it is unbearable so I take a couple of fioricet tablets and it only reduces 1/3 of pain.

Does anyone know what type of headache I'm having and what medication I should take? (my doctor told me its not tension and migrane?)
Maybe I'm having some kind of fibromyalgia?

Currently I'm taking Effexor XR 150 mg daily and its not helping.
I have tried tricyclic, beta-blocker, calcium channel blocker, muscle relaxant so far.
I dont know what to do now. please help...

Hi JC Park,

Welcome to Healing Well. Sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. Unfortunately we are not Doctors here so cannot diagnose. The best person to diagnose which type(s) of headache you have is a Neurologist who is a Headache Specialist.

Do you keep a diary of your headaches? If not your Neuro would find it helpful as a tool to aid diagnosis! Sorry I cannot be of any further help.

take care

Ann

yes, i'm seeing a neurologist at the jefferson headache center but he's not sure what causes my headache.

so I guess he will try all kinds of medication to find the right recipe for me.

I'm sure it's not regular tension headache or migraine and also I dont have tumor. (I had two MRIs done)

They are not dull or throbbing. Most of time they are aching and a bit of burning.

Well, I'm trying Neurontin for the next step. I hope it helps.
